Would you want a coach who only had that year as experience ? How are you supposed to get a ring that way ?

Maybe they can't have kids. Maybe they had 5 daughters and said frick my life. Maybe they just love the thought of coaching young men in team sports. All kinds of reasons why.

If he's a good coach, enjoys mentoring, and his own kids are too old, I don't think it's weird. It would be nice if more men were involved in their community.

It's not 1989 anymore. Travel baseball, and little league in general, have become something so ridiculous. Everyone thinks their kid is the next Mike Trout from ages 5-15. Youth basketball and football aren't even close to what baseball is these days. It's insane.

I have multiple friends with no kids that run tournament teams.

They also have no/shitty degrees and either played college or pro ball though.

It's a business for them.

Not really. Had a cousin who was huge into baseball. Coaches his sons then continued to coach when they got older. He enjoyed working with and helping kids. Need more adults like that imo

What if they like coaching and are trying to give back to their community?

Not a lot of mentoring going on in the concession stand.

I coach a little league team, no son on the team.

Reason, they couldn't find enough volunteer coaches.

Ever notice it's the same 20 people volunteering for everything?
