Debating offering Ingram for Hunt. Who would you rather have for the rest of the season? Hunt may have a larger workload but he hasn't been getting targeted as much with Mahomes at QB. Only reason I'm shopping Ingram is because I'll start Kamara, Ingram, Thomas if I keep him. Should I roll with 3 Saints in my lineup, or try and diversify?

I prefer Hunt, but to me it's close.

Sure does make Saints games more exciting for you. Alternatively, you could lean all the way in and trade for Drew Brees.

To answer the question, I'd probably rather own Hunt, but it's pretty close. I doubt you get many people looking to trade one player in the same position and tier for another in that position and tier.

That it does. It'll either amplify the joy... or the pain

You're probably right about the other owner's willingness too. He's 4-0, not much incentive to make changes.

I would rather have Hunt than Ingram, and I don’t think it’s close at all.

How many touches do y’all think Ingram is getting with Kamara established as the lead back now?

I would think Hunt will put up some really good numbers for the rest of the year. Ingram should be consistent but not have nearly as much upside as Hunt.

Someone didn't watch the Saints last year
Eta: Ingram averaged 17 touches in the last nine games last season, and Kamara was seeing 16 touches per game in the same stretch, excluding the concussion game.
So yeah, enough for both of them to eat.

To OP, I'd take Hunt too, especially for the diversification aspect.

Lol I watch almost all Saints games. Ingram and Kamara were quite the duo in 2017.

Points against Ingram this season: I don’t think The saints will be nearly as run heavy as last year due to a tougher schedule and weaker defense. More pass attempts means more Kamara work as the superior pass catcher. Also, the saints scored half their TDs last year on the ground, which is a much higher % than the NFL average- I believe the normal ratio of team passing TDs to rushing TDs is around 2 to 1. Seems like something that will regress, especially in an offense that trusts their HOF QB and lets him near the goal line.

And for some less numbers-based analysis: they’ve featured Kamara in a way they’ve never featured a back before during the first 4 weeks. Ingram is a good back, but Kamara is special. I’m betting that Sean Payton sees the same thing everyone else does- Kamara is clearly superior and needs the lion’s share of the work.

For those thinking the Saints are turning the lead back role over to Kamara and Ingram won’t have a big part in the offense-wrong. Sean Payton has repeatedly emphasized how concerned he is for Kamara to be used as heavily as they have been forced to use him these first four games. Payton wants to give him more rest and now he can. Ingram will have a big role in the offense, as big as last year. Also, in the preseason, Ingram was tearing it up. He will be utilized going forward.

I'm not saying he won't be utilized, I think he's a solid RB2/Flex option moving forward. I don't think he'll be an RB1 this year like I would project for Kareem Hunt.

Yea I would be really surprised if Ingram gets 18 touches a game this year like he did in 2017. There are a lot of factors working against that happening again

Alvin Kamara out-snapped Ingram in the #Saints final eight games last year, including postseason (59% to 50%). Kamara also saw more red-zone touches (21 to 19) and RB opportunities per game (16.2 to 15.5).

You’re on the mark, dally

He won't get 18, but I'd bet he'll average around 12-13 carries a game and two catches a game. That's 14-15 touches, which is plenty.

I don't think it's enough for RB1 numbers like some people are expecting if he's not getting the majority of goal line work. We shall see

I did exactly that last season and it took me to the championship game.

But here, I'd probably get Hunt if you can pull it off.
