I may be getting a job and having to move to Houston and I’m looking for an area to live in that’s reasonable in price but not too far from where I’ll be working; the office is off of 290 HOV, near Jersey Village.

What areas should I be looking in for apartments? I’d like to be no more than 30-45 minutes from work with traffic.

TIA

Under a bridge is a good start.

Failing that, Heights is nice or depending on how much $$ you have, Spring Branch/Memorial.

Along 249 between Willowbrook and Tomball has some nice choices and is close.

I’m just looking for a 1 bedroom in a decent area.

My gf wants to live on Westheimer where a 1 bedroom runs about $900. IMO that’s a little much.

PM Owl. They all stay in the same house and just pay by the head per week. Pretty crowded but the food fringe benefits are probably worth it if you like tamales and cabrito. Couldn't be more than $55 per week, which adds up when another 14 are chipping in.

I wouldn't want to live on Westheimer. Traffic is always bad and there isn't really a great route out to Jersey Village.

So within 3-4 miles from the office then.

If I can get a 1BR for something in the lower $800’s I think that would be good.

They may pay you to speed up some paperwork. Could be a pretty sweet arrangement. He says he has some really cute young cousins.

Is Houston traffic really THAT bad? Is there a side of the city I could live on where I’d be traveling the opposite direction of the majority of traffic to get to work? If that’s the case I’d be willing to venture further out.

Check out around Louetta street off 249. There's also several places between Louetta and 1960.

I used to live off Cypresswood Dr, just east of 249. Its a good area, not overly expensive, and easily within your time parameters.

Would you happen to know what neighborhoods that would be?

Jersey village traffic is headed towards downtown in the mornings and the opposite in the evenings. It doesn't really matter though. People try to work odd hours to avoid traffic but it basically sucks from around 6:30 AM then again starting at 4:00 PM.

I work not far from Jersey Village. Near Willowbrook Mall.

If you’re just renting an apartment, why would you want to live that far away? I’d stay within 5 miles from your office.

It’s not thar close, but I lived in EADO for a few years and had a blast. Walk to Minute Maid and Toyota Center with tons of neighborhood bars around.
