24 All-SEC selections on 1st/2nd team offense

0 from LSU
This is excluding the special teamers (not to disown Cole Tracy, he did a great job this year, but that's special teams, not really "offense")
Really goes to show how we simply had no elite players on this offense at all this season. Not a single player the AP thought was Top 2 to 4 in their position in this conference.
We can argue about playcalling, this and that all day long, but we really need some offensive playmakers and for that matter, mean dudes back on the OL STAT.
I hope guys like Kardell Thomas, Tyrion Davis and John Emery Jr. can bring new life to the offense. Not to mention guys like Chase and Marshall step it up big time next season. We need guys on offense who can really make some plays.

Not gonna have selections with our OC has an offense ranked 106th.

It’s like you completely ignored the whole premise of his post

I'm certainly not in love with Ensminger one bit, but it's hard to also have a decent offense when almost literally everyone on it plays mediocre to bad. Very very few "decent" spots on this offense this year from a personnel standpoint. We say Cushenberry looked good on the OL, fact is he was simply better than the others, and the entire OL as a whole was absolutely horrible.
The receivers were wildly inconsistent.
The RBs had very few plays they made.
Moreau really didn't take any step forward at TE and there was nobody behind him.
Burrow was certianly inconsistent, but a lot could be contributed to an OL that couldnt block and a receiving corps that constantly let him down as well.
We just need some major personnel shifts on offense, not to mention some talented guys who just need to step it the hell up.

I am just saying "lack of talent" is relative and I would think LSU has recruited better than "106th" on offense.
We can continue to blame players though, but we fail to develop them like other schools. Its a consistent narrative at LSU and got Miles fired.
Should not be excused now.

A lot of us have pointed this out.
We have good players, but we play in the SEC where there are a lot of good players, plenty of very good players and some elite players.
Having good players isn't enough.

Or maybe we scheme better and all of a sudden ournpkayers have better stats and make these lists.
Jonathan Giles was a finalist for the Belitnekoff and was AllBig 12and he sucks.

It's a chicken/egg thing. Hard to tell if it's the players or the coaching staff. Considering LSU's history, I'd say it's the coaching staff.

Is it the chicken or the egg? Was is the players that couldn't execute the scheme or the scheme that couldn't open up the players?

LSU was second to LAST in the SEC in yards per play and Vandy.... yes VANDY had a better total offense than LSU.
I think its reasonable to assume we have more talent than Vandy.

It's a combination of everything. Our WR coaching deal is a joke right now, to not get better production out of that group was criminal with 2 guys being spent there. We really had very little talent at RB compared to what we're used to. The OL was just a total joke, coaching all the way down to most of those guys playing. We have nobody to coach up Burrow.
TE was likely a lack of personnel problem more than anything (Moss and Pettigrew both out for season).

So coaching because we have elite WR talent on paper.

We have a number of 4* RB's on the roster right now.

Again, we have a number of highly rated kids out of high-school on the Oline. While maybe a little thin, they did not improve.
Which goes more to my point. At no point this season did our offense "get better".

Both coaching problems imo

Again, goes on both. If your guys cant even catch a freaking football, that's a "them" problem. Remember when they had 6 drops against Rice in the 1st half?

Brossette has never played like a 4* or close to it, CEH was a 3-star, Curry looked like a true freshman from the get go and was a very low 4*, Provens and Lanard both 3*. Again, not exactly LSU talent at RB or close to it, let's not kid ourselves.

It's first and foremost a personnel problem. Deculus is not a tackle. Brumfield got the benefit of the doubt for being the "leader" and this and that on the OL but he's never been much a player. Unfortunately, we had no true upgrades either this year apparently. We've still absolutely got a personnel problem on the OL, not a single one of those guys outside of maybe Cushenberry should have their job at their spot locked down for next season. You can tell why the coaches panicked a bit early on this season and moved Hines & Rosenthal to the OL.
We need to find tackles, bottom line.

You are right, the lack of offensive talent was the big problem. But the guys to fix it are already on the team or committed for next year.
Saahdiq, Cush and Deculus will all be significantly better next year.
Hines is a stud, and we return Lewis who was very good this year.
We'll tread water with Pettigrew at TE replacing Moreau.
Burrow is back, and he'll have Chase, Terrace and Jefferson with experience.
If Ensminger can't have a 2013 level offense with that, then he needs to go - and by that time O would be going too.

I would not agree. I think our offensive talent is about equal to Vandy's if you take out the freshman wide receivers, whch are extremely talented but not really developed yet. Their offensive line is better than LSU's. Running backs? I'd guess Vandy is better. Burrow is probably better than their QB, but I'll admit I didn't see them enough to tell.

Cush and Hines could make the 2 deep next season. If Burrow plays to his potential could see him also. One out of Jefferson, Marshal or Chase is going to be on it also. Would be suprised if Pettigrew is not on the 2 deep all SEC as well. He is going to be hard to cover. We will have our share on there next season (que the "next season U" cracks)
