You sure it’s not ghosts?

You CAN put a cat up there but then you'll have to put a dog up there to get the cat out.
Then you'll have to go up there and start vacuuming to get the dog out and who has time for that?

Go to the local feed store and ask for fox urine. Seriously, they sell it in like a granulated form. You sprinkle said product around area of issue. The mice smell that fox urine and vacate. Fox are known to crush the populations of rats, squirrels, mice, etc to live and survive. Good Luck.

I usually release a cobra into the attic to scare the dog out. Of course, then you have to put the mongoose up there to get the cobra.

That's actually not a bad plan.
You can just leave the mongoose up there when you're done, they're not real troublemakers.

There was an old lady that swallowed a fly....

Yeah but if you want to lend the mongoose to a friend you have to put an aborigine up there to get him out. Then to get the aborigine out you gotta put sheep farmers up there and those attract tom sellecks

I’ve read those can sometimes have the opposite effect.

If you are sure it is mice, you can put a five gallon bucket with a little bit of crack corn in it. The mouse will be able to get in but can't climb back out. Take it outside in the middle of the yard and turn him loose and see if you step on it to kill it. If you have young kids make them do it to toughen them up!

Cats are gross. I’d rather live with mice.

Just use a good old mousetraps with peanut butter. Make sure you check them regularly or your attic will smell like dead mice.

I used those old school snap traps baited with peanut butter last year, pulled out 4 big arse rats in 2 days. Haven't heard anything up there since.

Mousetrap Monday Youtube Channel
This guy reviews tons of mouse traps. The 5 gal buckets with water in them seem to be very effective

This happened to us one time. We finally got rid of them by going to the hardware store and buying the box of poison that has little green pellets inside. Toss those all over your attic and the mice will eat and then leave to go find water and die.
