Today show interview
Host: “the women’s soccer players have a guaranteed contract. Whether you play or not whether you are injured or not you still get that money, whereas on the men’s side if they don’t play they don’t get that money. Now if you were to get that equal pay would you be willing to give up that guaranteed contract and really be on equal footing with the men?”
Megan: “I think our realities are a little bit different... so we are not saying every single structure needs to be the same”
:imoutofcastys:
Its this kind of contradiction that invalidates this claim of a perceived transgression. The difference in pay is all about supply and demand. Unless are we prepared to say economics are discriminatory now? The simple fact is that men’s soccer has a bigger economic impact than women’s soccer. Sorry not sorry. Wouldn’t we all like to have our cake and eat it too?

Women only want equality in areas that benefit them.
Hopefully some trans baws make their way into the team and kick a few of these spoiled brats out.

We need higher rates of conviction for women and white folk in order to make our prisons more diverse.
For example, women (usually teachers) who sexually assault a minor (usually their students) should be sent to prison instead of given probation and a fine. Let's reshape our Big Boy prisons into Big Girl prisons too!
We also need more women working in coal mines and getting black lung. MAKE BLACK LUNG DIVERSE AGAIN!

BTW, is US Soccer still pumping money into NWSL?

it's called the market, the men's team makes exponentially more money than the women. this equality of outcome crap is out of hand and will ruin the country if we continue to tolerate it. they're not playing the same sport so they don't get the same pay. the worst NBA team makes more than the best WNBA team, so they get paid more. it's really that simple. you want the same pay, go make the men's team.

yes the league is funded by USSF and MLS
10 years from now it will not be even close to the top womens league in the world
with top euro clubs going all in on the womens game it wont even be close now.

the biggest issue is that, apparently, tv rights aren't sold by sex and instead are sold as a single USSF brand
i bet they regret that virtue signalling bullshite now

No, if you watch the interview she actually gave them a second chance to save themselves with the very next question. But they declined lol. Well Megan declines and Alex just sits there.
The way I read it was it seemed they didn’t realize what they had said, and weren’t really participating in the conversation. They just rattled off some more of their buzzwords and then it was over. So paper you could see right through.

You are probably right and I think we will be seeing more American players going there.
NWSL can't get a tv contract. It spent about a year on Fox Sports and then ESPN. They recently had their contract ended with Lifetime.
I think they could end up going to ESPN Plus and only having the final and a handful of other games on national tv.

I'm sure in the next few months I'm sure you will have people on tv ranting on how the women should be paid more and how kickass they are. Well if you love women's soccer so much buy a NWSL team because hell at this point they would probably give a team to anyone.

Once again, our inability to organize something coherent means we will be passed up. Our women's program was the best in the world in the 90's, as college soccer and Title IX provided a quasi-professional environment. Once major clubs got involved in Europe, though, it was only a matter of time before they surpassed us. It's annoying to see this happen in real time.

And college is the worst route for development in soccer. Our hope now is the likes of Red Bull and Man City start throwing money in American women's soccer.
