Typically my strategy has always been to go WR/RB heavy with my first 5-6 rounds, maybe even more, THEN worrying about QB/TE after I load up on skill position players... are you guys opposed to picking kelce late in the first round or early in the second round? And if so, why?? For conversations sake, I’m going to say it’s a PPR league

Just looking for y’alls opinions.. happy Friday frickers.. should be a lot of drafting goin on this weekend

Would you take Gronk in that spot in his prime?

I feel like im in the minority but he is majorly overhyped. you would be losing a ton a value picking him in first round.

I draft from 12 spot and have always hated my team when I take Kelce at the turn in mocks. It's a bit too rich for my blood. I took Gronk at the turn a couple years ago and it worked out, but it was only because it was a heavy keeper league and Gronk was clearly the best available. Usually you're passing up a top 5 RB/WR. Even the best TEs usually only score as a low end WR1.

I know that positional advantage is nice, but you only need to hit on TE once. RB/WR you need to hit on 5+ times.

Sometimes it's helpful to play would you rather with ADPs:

Kelce (1st/2nd) + Will Fuller (7th)
Julio (1st) + Jared Cook (7th)

Kelce + Latavius Murray (6th)
Joe Mixon (1st/2nd) + Hunter Henry (6th)

Kelce + Sony Michel (4th)
James Conner + Zach Ertz (4th)

I find myself wanting to be on the other side of Kelce what-ifs in most scenarios

Ertz isn’t lasting til the 4th in any good
League baww.

I’m 9th and debating on going James Connor then Kielce.

In my experience the years I’ve had an elite TE I’ve won the league. It’s a releatively weak position. If you are elite there you have a big advantage.

Especially now a days it’s a lot easier to find a good wr2 or flex on waiver bc so many teams throw the ball more than ever.

To answer your question. If you are a very late first round pick. I’d definitely get kelce and a stud RB with first two picks.

Next two picks get another RB and your wr1 (Adam
Thielin, diggs, cook,

In ppr leagues it’s much harder to get good rbs and and TEs then WRs

I’d start a thread asking if I should

I took Kelce at 1.11 in a 12 team league, but the league is unique where only TEs get a PPR.

Selected D. Cook at 2.2 and then Allen and Hilton in the 3rd & 4th.

I think he can be argued as the most sure thing of anyone in the top 20 or so. There’s a point in the first round where he’s the least risky pick, I’d say around 10. No problem taking him around that spot.

If you have Kelce ranked above the WRs on your board at that pick, then sure.

Yes. He's projected to be better than most WR1s.

Had the 8 spot. Went Chubb. Kelce. And Mahommes.

In the 11th now in a slow draft. Shaping up nicely overall.

I’m not. I’m at 10 in a 10 team. I can’t decide whether I’m doing rb, rb or wr wr, maybe take a ertz in the third but I doubt it. Definitely not paying up for kelce.

Post your lineup. I’m curious how drafting a qb and a te with my first 3 picks looks. Where’d you go at 4 wr or rb?

Still drafting of course (one of these slow drafts!). This is my most competitive league I'm in, so RBs fly off the board obviously and everyone waits for QBs until after the 9th for the most part. That type of league.

I think you have to get a top RB in the first 2 rounds if you can, but you're looking at a Chubb/Bell/Mixon/Conner type where Kelce may sit. He's ranked in the top 10 in some of the services I follow, but still generally in the top 15 in almost any ranking you'd see. You might see the likes of a K. Johnson in the 3rd, but he's hot right now and rising up the draft boards. D. Freeman seems to be the most popular choice if he falls to the 3rd. Ain't touchin' L. Fournette there. Don't trust D. Henry's health longer term. You might face a M. Thomas or Juju there too, so that'll be a call.

5-9 is a tough section this year, particularly in 12-14 team leagues. Kelce gives you about as much stability as you could want. It's all about mitigating risk in the 1st four rounds and I liked him where I got him at 17. Wasn't going to, but said what the hell and got Mahomes in the 3rd. That's heresy in drafting circles, but I feel like that stack could be a difference maker and it's for fun anyway, so what the hell.

Player Name Category Pick
Nick Chubb RB 8
Travis Kelce TE 17
Patrick Mahomes QB 32
Amari Cooper WR 41
Phillip Lindsay RB 56
Alshon Jeffery WR 65
Marquez Valdes-Scantling WR 113
Latavius Murray RB 80
Dede Westbrook WR 89
Darwin Thompson RB 104

that’s what I thought may work for you. But I don’t wanna roll like that week to week

I took a risk to start with going Chubb at 8, but the RBs in that range or after were too risky for me. Almost was going M. Thomas in the 2nd but he got picked the pick before. At that point, it was Kelce or JuJu and I went Kelce. Could have gone RB maybe in the 3rd. but at that point it was Carson or Mack. Mahomes ought to be worth the difference there.

We'll see. 8th is a tough spot. This team should grade out 90+ and be in the top 3-4, so I'm happy overall so far. And, as you know, the team you start with isn't the team you end up with. You can see I'm reaching for "upside" RBs right now too. WRs are DEEP all the way through the end of the draft, so it's really the RBs drying up you have to worry about.

96-1374-11

103-1336-10

One of these lines is Travis Kelce last year.

The other is the average of Odell’s first 3 seasons in NYG.

Do you know which is which?

Kelce returns WR1 value. He’s #1 option in the leagues best offense. They do not have reliable weapons after Tyreek hill. Even with the Mahomes regression he still should be able to sustain a strong year,

Ok. I disagree and think it will be very competitive, but for discussion's sake, what would you have done differently? Get the point with Kelce. Choices at that point would have been JuJu (which I almost took), Cook (don't think he's going to stay healthy), Evans, Allen in that tier. And by 32 the other 3rd round type RBs were gone. K. Johnson and D. Freeman won't last past 20. Maybe it'll fall differently in less competitive leagues.

And you could question what to do at the end of the first as you'll have to think about going WR (Thomas?) or the likes of Bell, Conner, maybe Mixon in some leagues. I don't like those choices personally and think Chubb is now in the first round consideration.

Point will be for those drafting this weekend in the mid ranges to tail will face these questions and they can learn from current experiences.

You could do Chubb And gurley ertz and t.y. Or Allen. Then with the back rounds brees wentz or Big Ben

Or wr wr rb rb then take Henry or engram

The biggest problem I have is mahomes with the third pick.
