Dare Rosenthal

Why all the worry over whether Charles plays left tackle? Rosenthal is the present and future. Rosenthal is bigger, stronger and quicker than any tackle on the roster.
Flame away.
Flame away.

I have watched the tape.
I’ll bet you right now that Rosenthal plays more snaps as an NFL tackle than Charles.
Let me know what your wager is.

Wtf does unknowable NFL futures have to do with this team presently? Rosenthal isn’t as good as Charles right now, again go watch the film. He was our worst Olineman in the opener when he had his window to impress. Maybe he will turn into a great player, hell everyone here hopes he does but right now we have better options at the position and it’s just that simple.

You’re wrong. Rosenthal was the highest graded lineman the last game and will continue to get better because he has physical ability Charles doesn’t have or any other linemen on the roster:
We have two games to get better.
We have two games to get better.

He was the highest graded lineman by Pro Football Focus. The same site that graded Sam Bradford as the best QB in the NFL for 2017 and the same site that currently has Jalen Ramsey as the 89th ranked corner in the NFL so forgive me if I don’t put stock in that sham site. As far as physical ability, maybe he has all this talent you speak of but it hasn’t translated yet.

“We have two games to get better”
The offense is more than fine and you surely don’t want to disturb the chemistry up front which has kept Burrow clean all season long. I watched Rosenthal duck his head and air ball two blocks on the same drive vs Ga. Southern and if he does something like that and gets Burrow blindsided and hurt then how would you feel. Charles can play the position consistently and well vs top level talent. There’s no question about that because it’s proven. Rosenthal hasn’t proven he can be consistent vs Ga. Southern much less throughout an SEC schedule. He’ll get his chance, in a year or two.

I don’t base my opinion on PFF. I base it upon what I see on tape. And Rosenthal is the best tackle on the roster and offers the most upside. Furthermore, and most importantly, Rosenthal is available to play, unlike Charles. Availability is the most important ability.

You pretend as if Charles has played all three games. Did I miss something? What is this chemistry up front you speak of?

You literally just quoted PFF as the basis for your grade on Rosenthal but you don’t go by their grades? He’s not our best Olineman and he’s not our best Tackle, he’s 3rd or 4th with Traore. If he was such a jump off the screen dominant player like you claim he’d be starting without question but he isn’t. He’s got talent and a bright future but he makes catastrophic mistakes and he’s not going to play in front of guys who never do. The proof is right there on film, if you don’t wanna acknowledge that fine but thankfully our coaches know better.

Dare Rosenthal is coming into his own, baw
O ain’t call him a future 1st round pick at LT for no reason

While I agree Rosenthal likely has the most upside of the three or four tackles that have played so far this year, he's not better than Charles right now.
He's missing some assignments. He doesn't looks like its natural yet - he's having to think too much still. He also has gotten pushed back and physically whipped a few times, and these weren't by great defenders.
Getting some PT would be nice, but not having Charles would be big concern.
Lets not pretend Rosenthal has looked dominant in limited time.

He's getting that now... hence, indeed he is on his way. Perfect timing if you ask me. Charles is the better OT right now, but there's nothing wrong with somebody pushing him. And if Charles' suspension leads to Dare first getting to that 'ready' point AND causes him to challenge Charles for time towards the end of the season- I say yay!
The team benefits if Dare challenges Charles. So will Dare... and Charles.

Rosenthal started the last game over Traore. He's more fluid than Traore. Currently he's not an all SEC tackle but he is improving. Magee is hands down the worst starter on the o line.
Also, Cush needs to step up his game. He was consistently getting beat last Saturday.

He is evolving and it looks very promising. However, he is NOT better than Charles at this point.....
And, to be picky, he is definitely not the strongest. Deculus is far more powerful. That isn't even a debate that can be had.

Who has been playing Left Tackle this season and keeping Burrow safe?
The offense could get better but right now we are looking pretty good. I guess we could score every time we touch the ball.

The problem with Deculus is his whiff blocks. He’s not quick enough outside
Posted on 9/20/19 at 6:49 am to MrWiseGuy
I do agree his skill set is best suited at OG, but the whiffs have drastically improved from last year. You need to try and forget last year and focus on the now. Austin has played damned well in 2019.
