Agreed 100%. There is little to no benefit to “challenging yourself in the non-conf. Either expand the playoffs or just schedule four terrible OOC games

So that you don't win a national championship, win 20 some odd games in a row, and be left out of the playoffs?
Clemson won't finish out, but them being #5 as the undefeated champ speaks pretty clearly about SOS.

What would our ranking be if we didn't schedule Texas...? Who should have we played... let's hear other scenarios and what might be our outcome or benefit?

Look at where Baylor is ranked and that is your answer. There 3 OOC games opponents only have 4 wins. They got put in the penalty box according to the commish.
