We Have Created a Pre-Soviet Culture in the United States

“ As an American I have clearly seen, over these past forty years or so, a secularization of our who nation, with the end result that evil is taking root.
Consequently, the American people are being deceived by an atheism that is ripping our own country from us. America is becoming like the Soviet Union, while Russia is becoming the Christian land America once was.
We American’s are witnessing a progressive extinction of our traditional public and educational institutions, watching to our horror, traditional values replaced with all manner of perversion. Our once proud institutions are now becoming corrupt, just as violence, decadence, and insanity are increasing.
Marxist ideologies and secularist principles are changing our once Christian culture, leading to the state sponsored pressures that will ultimately take away our individual freedoms and liberties.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn, in his “Godlessness: the First Step to the Gulag”, referenced how the communist takeover of Russia was preceded by an atheistic mentality that lead to the secularization of Russia, therefore alienating the Russian people from their traditional Christian morality and beliefs. Solzhenitsyn rightly concluded Russia was open to atheism and anti-Christian morality because “Men have forgotten God”.
It is all the more imperative that we fervently pray for our country, and give witness to the importance of Christ in our lives. The secularization that is taking place must not be allowed to take hold, but must be pushed back by us. We must stand firm against this radical takeover, and as warriors for our faith, battle against the destructive power of the evil enemy of our salvation.
With love in Christ,
Abbot Tryphon”

Alexander Keresnsky will tell you that the rise of Bernie Sanders is something to fear. He saw it before.
He was chairman of the Provisional Russian Government that briefly governed after the end of Tsardom and then overthrown by the Bolsheviks. Forced into exile and lived out his days in New York.
The 50+ million people that Stalin killed would warn the same.

At the risk of further hijacking this thread, you should also read up on one that hasn't been killed yet. (Oops, I meant, "...is still alive.)
Wikipedia: Oleg Kalugin
The Soviets/Russians issue has little to do with a message. It's chaos and distrust.
As for the OP topic, I suggest watching Dr. Zhivago. Leaving out the love story, the historical events, the tactics, and the characters should send a chill down your spine.

This is not an accident. When the Soviets threatened to destroy the West from within, they were not bluffing. This is the outcome of the plan they enacted back during the heyday of the Cold War. They themselves may be gone (at least officially), but the army of useful idiots they created here and used to sieze control of higher education and the means of mass communication lives on stronger than ever. The Dead Hand was not, as it turned out, a fail-deadly automatic ICBM launch system. It was a cancer planted in the Western superorganism for which there is no cure without killing the patient.

It began well before the Soviet Union. I would start it with Plato's 'Republic.' People are too stupid for democracy. They must be controlled by the state to make things right.

A polity without a shared system of morality and ethics cannot function. Law itself does not suffice.

The second we allowed social security to pass was the end of it all
The single front door opening to pass anything and everything to give people a free ride in life
The majority of individuals in this country now take more money than they pay in.
We are so fricked its crazy

Communism requires atheism. There can be no greater authority on determining right and wrong than the state. That's why communism can justify mass murder of its own citizens for the common good. Religion would not approve.
That's why Madeline Murray O'Hare (our most famous atheist) was a Communist first and foremost according to her son, William. It's a great book. When he rejected communism and atheism she said publicly that she wished she had aborted him.

I’m not at all advocating for a theocracy, and I’ll teach my own kids to pray (rather than expecting it from a school that can’t even teach what it’s supposed to).
I also believe people use their faith as some sort of cudgel or halo in issues where it has no place.
That being said, if you don’t believe that a Judeo-Christian framework of morality is a huge factor in a just culture, I suggest you spend some significant time in countries with no spiritual underpinnings.
Try China: One of the most selfish and hollow cultures I’ve ever experienced. Even Islamic states have an ethos that places like China do not. It’s been perverted and abused in many, many cases, but at least the non-radicals embrace charity and community.

quote:Sure. However, there is clearly no push in the US to have atheism be some sort of official edict of the state. This is apples to oranges.

First, you create the void.
Then, you fill it with something else, and it does not have to be state-enforced.
If you don’t believe this hollowing out is proceeding ever quicker, you’re delusional.

Probably because all of the attempts to enforce atheism backfired and were withdrawn.
Much easier and profitable to encourage a common culture that is atomized, consumerized, and relativistic (all of which trigger our base pleasures!) than it is to blatantly ban honest religious inheritance.
