I have never supported slavery - a person owning another person for life or for payment in full is atrocious. However, we cannot deny this evil existed until 1863 in the United States.
As we are now dealing with our slavery position, when will we include the Black slave masters of that same period? South Carolina alone had 180 Black slave owners followed by Louisiana and then so forth. Every slave owning state had Black slave owners until emancipation and the 13th amendment.
Where do these men fit into the discussion and retraction of history?

Or you know the people in Africa who actually sold the slaves to the traders. That always seems to get completely glossed over.

I stopped eating pizza because of its connotation to Italy and the Roman Empire and the enslavement of almost every European tribe. So I’m way ahead of you.

Doesn't fit the narrative

You know, there were white slaves too!

Not ready for any discussion. Still listening....

It also was a great number of white people who helped slaves escape as well...and it was 1865 when slavery ended

Who gives a frick? Not one person alive in this country has ever been a slave. Not one person alive in this country has ever been a slavemaster. Stop carrying dead peoples' baggage.

It’s really sad how much of a complete and total failure our education system is in this country.
Can we abolish social security and put all of those resources into improving our education system?

frick you. I have an old folding suit bag from my grandfather I always take on trips. Reminds me of traveling with him when I was a kid. I’ll carry that dead man’s baggage as long as I can.

Exactly, it's part of history. Let it go. America's fixation on race is not healthy.

Native Americans are the ones who should be on the forefront of a movement with media, protesting, etc. They just don’t speak up so that’s on them. Every one of us have ancestors that were slaves and more than likely most of us have ancestors that owned slaves at some point, blacks and whites. But NA, damn they lost a lot of land and got murdered over it. I’m not very influential and work a lot so I’m not gonna be the one to start the movement for them
We should push the black movement to the rear and bring the NA movement to the front

There is no evidence supporting the idea that more funding for public education = better education. Since the 1970's funding for education has more than tripled and test scores have stayed the same or even dropped.
End unions, and make teachers accountable, and you might see grades improve in some areas. Other than that, it's really up to the parents, and in the "community" being educated is "selling out".

I took African American history at UNO. Our professor(Dr Caldwell) was an old black son of North Louisiana sharecroppers.
He lectured on the large black slave owners one day. Many black students flipped the frick out!
They were furious he address the issue. He seemed puzzled, was kinda like"this is fact, this is what occured".
I really liked the class to be honest. The professor did a really good job.

99% of us have moved on with our lives while those heathens are busy burning down their own cities.
Discussing it gives their stink credence.

Slavery has existed throughout human history
Why is the US the only place where this is a continuing issue in 2020?
Oh yeah. Because its political.
