The Unity Task Force created by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders from Vermont called for a “postal banking” system for people who don’t have access to regular banks

What could go wrong?

LINK

Also, what on earth is “moderate” joe biden doing teaming up with Bernie Sanders?

This is a solution in search of a problem

The vast majority of people who don’t have a bank account make the choice not to have one.

People really don’t have access to banks but they do have access to the post office?

People who’ve fricked banks over so badly, banks don’t want their business.

Sounds like a solid idea.

Yeah but those private banks are a bunch of meanies. They are for profit. Public banks could just siphon off some tax dollars to redistribute to those less fortunate. I’m surprised democrats didn’t think of it sooner, tbh.

I can’t fathom the type of person that wouldn’t have access to a normal bank? The Amish?

The post office already sells money orders. Nothing more is needed.

Food stamps and EBT are the same thing.

Actual working tax payers pay taxes, people who "Do not have access to banks" go to the post office bank ( ) and get "loans" they never pay back and the working tax payers end up covering it. We already have that system in place Joe.

Fees, other charges and minimum deposit requirements make regular banks not an option for poor people.

But there is a sizable number of persons who cannot use banking services.

Why?

Because they either abused the system or lack the mental capacity to understand it and ended up abusing it.

If you burn local bank A that's one thing. If you have burned local banks A,B, C, D, E and burned a regional or national bank you're in a database that says don't open an account. Burned the system bad enough to be listed in Treasury or Fed Reserve System with a red flag, attempting to open another account may net a visit from Secret Service, FBI, or other local/state/fed agencies. (Secret Service has jurisdiction over the money)

Have you been inside a post office recently? Should those people be handling large sums of money daily?

I don't care how bad your credit is, how many liens and judgements you have against you, how many bad checks you've written... if you show up to any bank with $100 and hand it over the counter ask to open a checking account, they will open you a checking account.

This has to be a trojan horse for something else.
