I don't keep up with TT football, but really what are there chacnes of winning the big 12 south. Imho, Texas and OU should beat them easily. However, besides that, i don't see them losing anything else. Their schedule is relatively easy.
They should beat Kansas and the only other game I see on their schedule is Nebraska at home. So, what is everyone else's opinion?

I don't think the home field advantage is very strong in Lubbock.

i think if they played a good defense harrell would be shite. i think lsus dline would give harrell 0 time to throw.

idk about how ous and texas lines are.

I'll try to answer this in an unbiased manner...

Tech CAN beat anyone and they can beat anyone convincingly.

The problem with Tech is that they are a shite road team. They will beat God at home one week, and then go lose to shite arse Iowa State the next week on the road. It has been that way for the past 5 years.

You can always count on them losing 2-3 road games that they would win if they were playing in Lubbock.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them go 10-2.. I think 11-1 is a very small possibility. However, it wouldn't surprise me to seem do their typical 8-4, 7-5 campaign either.

Jones Stadium is a decent homefield advantage when playing A&M, Texas or OU. But then you'll have a team like Colorado or Kansas come in there and beat their arse in Jones. Tech is just a different team when they can play on their turf (they play on astroturf). The crowd really isn't much of a difference at all.

IMO, Leach's offensive strategy without a serious defense will never make it to the next level.

Yea, I think TT is a team that doesn't really benefit from home field, it just negates the effect of playing amongst thousands of opposing fans on the road. They're a team that always beats somebody they aren't supposed to and loses to somebody they have no business losing to.

Oh ya, and they got Mikey Crabtree though....who knows!

As in every year 3 or 5 losses.

Muschamp's defense will make Texas Tech look foolish. They lose to Texas and Oklahoma.

Tech doesn't have the quality athletes on BOTH sides of the ball to win the Big 12 South. They will lose 3.

then you haven't been paying attention.

Texas always struggles up there, they beat OU in Lubbock last year (lucky for LSU).

TT has a top 30 defense believe it or not and the offense is just so explosive. They can win the Big12 but they won't. If they don't win it this year they never will.

I had them in a top10 at number 10 that I made, but I see them dropping two games like every year, though there is a realistic chance they can win the conference.

You mean last year or this coming year?

Last year they were 51st if you rank by Pts/Against...and 51st if you rank by Yds given up.

The problem is that their offense doesn't stay on the field long enough. The defense wears down as the game goes on.

ETA: I just checked...although they were ranked 6th in Points Scored...they were ranked 105th in Time of Possession. That wears (their) defense down.

Don't have the athletes on defense that we do on offense just yet. Keep in mind we play 2nd, sometimes 3rd fiddle to UT & A&M as far as recruiting goes. We've moved our defensive recruiting efforts into bordering states with some recent success. Our offense will be at its' pinnacle this year since we return everyone except WR Danny Amendola. Our defense should be improved since we return everyone except a safety. On paper, we should win every road game except OU and win every home game. 9 wins or less would be a disappointment.

Paul Williams PT decreased immensely when the defensive coordinator was changed 1/2 way through the season. Parker & Garcia will be the key losses...if you call them key. Sorry about that

Anyone who has ever been to Lubbock knows why you play second fiddle to any other town in Texas. As for the home-field advantage, I think it does exist. I'm pretty sure it's just the flight up to the Hub City that sucks the winner out of UT or A&M. Either way, I predict a TT victory over UT this year.
