But none of the masks compared with the neck fleece, which had 110 percent droplet transmission (10 percent higher than not wearing a mask).

Now they can do bandanas. Or old t-shirts. Or your run-of-the-mill Hobby Lobby fabric with baby ducklings on it.

The researchers explain how these masks may actually spread more of the virus than not wearing one at all. “We noticed that speaking through some masks (particularly the neck fleece) seemed to disperse the largest droplets into a multitude of smaller droplets ... which explains the apparent increase in droplet count relative to no mask in that case,” they write. These small droplets could prove extremely dangerous in terms of transmission. “Considering that smaller particles are airborne longer than large droplets (larger droplets sink faster), the use of such a mask might be counterproductive,” they add.

This is something that I've wondered for a while. If the mask filter the larger droplets leaving only smaller droplets, do the smaller droplets stay at head level longer for a higher chance of transmission?

The study proved that cotton masks are effective. But this is the OT and the only thing anyone will remember is the headline that neck gaiters don't work.

Impossible. Will never happen. Most idiots do not know how to wear a mask properly. Here's just one example.

Great. I finally found a happy medium when I ordered some of those Mission neck gaiters. I hated wearing a mask but I can deal with wearing a neck gaiter.

frick them. I wear a neck gaiter because it’s acceptable. They are easily the most breathable thing, so I can see where they’re probably not as effective.

Both neck fleeces and bandannas proved ineffective
I like wearing a bandanna as a mask, so they can lick my taint.
