Should be a lot better by then. Weather Channel always shows worst damage to sensationalize. After 3 weeks of clean up, should be doable. Don’t listen to the nay sayers I’m due there in 5 days. My Debbie Downer wife is losing her shite over it. This is not a cat 4 like Ivan.

Not a lot of excess power poles and transformers. Iowa and SWLA has sucked up a lot of it...

Baw. Beaches and pools in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Pensacola will be closed for several days. Restaurants and markets will most likely be closed also. Probably want to consider rescheduling your trip.

Yea man I got a feeling you need to reschedule if you can. This looked to be like what happened to Denham Springs & Walker after they flooded in 2016. Even if they open up, beach aint gonna be clean, walmart or grocery stores are gonna be packed, Will have trouble getting gas, Pools will probably be shot. Your call though.

I mean you’ll be able to go I would think, but don’t expect a normal beach trip. Beach will be dirty, some (if not most) restaurants Will be closed. Bring as much as you can (water, paper products, etc) with you. Before any of that though you’ll want to check with your rental to see what kind of damage they might’ve sustained. They might cancel for you.

Gulf Shores? Nope. Destin is a better chance. My friends pictures from there don't look too awful and they didn't all lose power. In 3 weeks, some places near Gulf Shores will have just gotten their power back up. I'm sure you could go and they'll be things open, but it might not be a really pleasant vacation experience! Cleaning the pool and beach are down a ways on the list when you're moving trees and patching holes in buildings.

Gulf Shores and OB announced a 10-day closure, they’re not welcoming visitors. Things may get sorted out quickly, but I would not count on it.

Yep. Aunt got an email this morning that anyone trying to get into the area will need a special tag on their vehicles showing they are residents or property owners. The office issuing them is still closed though. And that 10-day closure could very well be extended.

I'd make alternate plans just to be safe.

Aunt can show a utility bill or some other proof of residence or ownership. People have been getting in that way because nobody knows where there stickers are.

You probably could go but I'd expect limited services. Might not be very relaxing.

Thanks! She called around last night and that was what she was told.

She has more money than she knows what to do with though, and decided to just pay someone to clean up for her. She is going down this weekend to bring friends/neighbors generators and gas. She said she had 7 generators loaded on a trailer and 10 5-gallon cans of gas.

Read today that the causeway/bridge that goes from 98 over to Navarre Beach is closed for all but locals only for a few days also if you were detouring this way. Will try to edit with link.
