This is so they can try to get the season back to relatively normal calendar wise, as they got murdered having the playoffs as late as they were.

I assume this means no or limited fans for the first month of season, no bubble, and expanded rosters to account for players missing games for Covid.

I bet they also schedule less back to backs and games in a week.

I know I'm talking to myself, but one other ramification:

The draft is Nov 18, no Summer league and barely a month lead in time to season.

Rookies will be substantially downgraded and likely to make a difference early in the season. I could see a lot of teams going draft and stash or trying to sell off their picks for vets or future picks at a much cheaper price than normal.

Shams is also saying the NBA wants to keep the 8th seed play in tournament

If that’s the case, the Pelicans should swing for the fences on the draft pick. Whoever they draft won’t be in the rotation for the entire year.

Haven't seen that yet, as they still haven't figured out the cap.

Expect that announcement to come within the next calander week, as they also have to give the players 8 weeks notice before the start of the season.

Everything will start to come together pretty quick between now and the draft.

I could see this affecting Minny. We know there's already talk that they could be looking to trade their pick.

They're on the clock with Towns, and if they don't think one of these picks helps them win this year, they might be even more all in on trading out.

I think the play in tournament magnifies things. Now EVERY team feels like they'll have a shot to make the playoffs.

Or, we might be able to snag an extra pick or 2 in a Jrue deal because teams maybe that desperate to trade out.

Russillo was saying that the sentiment among some of the owners is just to bite the bullet for 2021 and get to the 2022 season and have it be normal.

We want teams that are desperate for Jrue to trade their young assets not draft picks. Yeah a top 5 pick is cool but no way we pressure a desperate team into late 1sts and 2nds > MPJ type players.

This does intensify that scenario, IMO.

Teams are going to be much more willing to get vets and give up youth and draft picks this offseason.

Still don't think Griff bites. He wants to win.

Depends on the team.

Teams like GS, Minnesota, and Atlanta are going to be desperate.

We can get GS to throw in the Minnesota pick, which will be a lottery pick. We can send him to Minnesota for future picks, banking on them losing and KAT and D'Lo leaving. Same with Atlanta.

We aren't trading Jrue for primarily picks. If a team is "desperate" for Jrue then we will take their young asset/ assets. Yeah I agree we may be able to get extra picks out of it but those picks won't replace a young asset if want we want one.

I might be wrong, but isn't Jrue extension eligible this offseason?

Doesn't his decision on whether or not to extend let us know if we should start looking at trades?

Never said it would be for primarily picks did I?

GS, Minnesota and Atlanta all have young guys, well GS would definitely be Wiggins coming back, but he's a guy we could likely flip elsewhere for other pieces.

That's implying that they only want to trade him if he wants to leave. They may be open to trade him regardless. That saying that's the case for sure, but it may be.
