I am a Blue Giant fan. Second it. Duck Lo Mein is a must get.
It sort of depends on your definition of casual, too. There are almost no places anymore that have any kind of dress code.
Marjie's Grill is probably my favorite restaurant in the city right now. It is very casual, but high level of food in my opinion.
Costera
Elysian Bar

Paladar 511 is the best restaurant in the city right now.

Ah yes, I've followed them on instagram in the past and wanted to give them a shot!
I'll look into it. Thanks for reminding me!

They're setup in a church? Looks pretty neat.

Haven't been but have heard a lot of people rave about Palm & Pine.

Tito’s! (Remains the most underrated gem in the city)

Wife (no pics) and I love Santa Fe. Always have adventurous specials. And the Carne asada is a delicious filet for $27. Great sangria too. Not too sweet.

What about cellar door? Been there for cocktails...never for a meal.

I have always liked Cellar Door. Atmosphere is a 10. Food is above average, but nothing people will tell you is a must have.
See if they have a reservation outside. Since covid the patio always gets full first.
Before covid the atmosphere was one of the best in the city. It allowed the place to be full without feeling overloaded.
Similar feel to Seaworthy that alos has outdoor dining.

I like Cellar Door and its a nice atmosphere. Its not on the level food wise with some of the places mentioned in here but its a nice little evening.
If you're really into wine, Pluck just opened in that same area and I greatly enjoyed it.

I like Cellar Door as well but typically just stop by for drinks with maybe an appetizer
Saffron could fit the bill for you Friday IMO. I’m a big fan. Indian food meets creole with a great atmosphere. On Magazine St. so easy to walk to another spot for a post drink dinner. You can definitely dress casual but it might be slightly more expensive than other “casual” choices. Enjoy wherever you end up

Walk to Bouligny or check out Maes trying not to be a dive.

Friend of ours threw out "The Bower" to us... how does that one rate?
Posted on 4/6/21 at 3:52 pm to longhorn22
I like the Bower! Nice wine list, good food, good atmosphere. I like the outdoor area.
Blue Giant is right next door. Barrel Proof is right down the block if you guys like whiskey afterwards.

Can't go wrong with Bower. They are still getting their feet under them since the original concept of Bower/Claret got messed up due to covid. Had the opportunity to try sp.e of the chefs experimentation a few months back. Hit and miss, but it seems he wants to keep evolving.
Since Bower came up consider Gris Gris and Chloe.
