What happened with that third base play

I thought it would be an easy tag, too. I guess he didn't see him or thought it might be too hard to change direction and get there. We'll see if that 1 ends up mattering.

It looked his momentum carried him too far in front of the runner. It would have been a bang bang play at 3rd.

Only way I can see is he didn’t know the runner was coming and was already in his throwing motion. Runner was dead in the water if he knew he was coming

It was a couple steps, I think if he knew the runner was coming he isn’t charging it as hard.

This.....plus he hesitated to see if the ball would go foul. He was very lucky to get the out at first. Took a good throw and an ALL-STAR effort by Morgan.
