Best town in Vermont to stay?

Flying into Boston and gonna spend a few days in Vermont, check out Mt Washington on the way to Maine for a few days, then down to the cape for a few days but need help with the Vermont part.

I'm gonna say Burlington. It's a decent size town with lots of restaurants and great beer places. Foam brewery is incredible . Waterbury is cool too but much smaller.

Since you said "town" I'm thinking of one of the many small, classic New England towns. I'll go with Woodstock.

What do you want in a town?
Northern or Southern VT?
Price?
If south, look at Woodstock or Manchester. Both are on the higher end of the price scale.
If north, look at Warren/Waitsfield or Stowe. Waterbury is in-between those two places and right on I-89.
If you want to go smaller, look at Johnson, Underhill, or Jericho. Don't expect much other than quiet.

I was going to say Stowe as well. Not sure about Summer, but in Fall/Winter it is what Hallmark Movies are made of.
My Dad had to go to Montpelier for work a lot and loved it
Burlington is probably the safest bet as it is the largest.
Don't bother with Rutland, unless you are wanting to spend time up at Killington.

Woodstock or Stowe for sure. Burlington is great too but it’s much further out the way

Truth.
Montpelier is interesting. Some nice, no-frills food places there but it the town is tiny. Famous for not having a MacDonalds.

We are doing a similar trip but flying into Albany and doing Lake Placid - Stowe - Coastal Maine the first week of August.
Booked the Lodge at spruce peak in Stowe. Has anyone stayed here? Any food recs in Stowe or Burlington?

While in Stowe, go to Waterbury and eat at both Prohibition Pig for lunch and Hen of the Wood for dinner. Request to sit outside at the latter if it’s a nice night.
There’s also a Hen of the Wood in Burlington but I like the Waterbury location more.
Doc Ponds in Stowe is fantastic as well.

I think it depends what you're looking for. Both are really good, but we tend to do the brewery and sit outside on the patio if we're going for lunch and the restaurant for dinner. I'd just look at the menus and pick which one fits what you're looking to eat - either way it's going to be good.
We love hiking the Stowe Pinnacle Trail and then going to Pro Pig for lunch. Used to do it with my lab but now he's a little too old to make the hike.
Other breweries in and around Stowe:
Hill Farmstead (a little bit of a drive but it's 1000% worth it. One of the highest rated breweries in the world each year)
Idletyme Brewing
Alchemist (good beer but overrated IMO. You can only get tasting pours on site then have to buy your to go cans and leave. Good beer though)
von Trapp (great German style beer and a really nice location with good views and food)
Stowe Cider if you want to mix it up and not get beer
There's a lot of others but those are some of the highlights.

Wonder if Vermont is going to grow in popularity for people permanently moving there with flexibility of work from home

A couple years ago they had a program where if you moved there with a remote job the state would give you $10,000. But it was a program that ended when the designated funds ran out.
I'd move there in a heartbeat if I had a remote job.

We are headed to Burlington, VT next week. Plan to visit Stowe and then a few towns on the NY side of Lake Champlain.
Also check out Middlebury which isn't too far away. A good restaurant called Fire and Ice.

Was lucky enough to grow up in Vermont and lived in Burlington. Technically, it’s a city, but I’ll always recommend visitors stay there. Easy enough to make day trips elsewhere, whether it’s a town in Chittenden County, Stowe/Waterbury, etc.
Let me know if you need recommendations for the Cape. Parents have a house in Truro, so I’m more familiar with the Outer Cape.
