The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck is a good read. Been 20+ years since I read it, but I don't think it would be dated.

Not really a book on meaning, but Thinking, Fast and Slow is a great psych book on automatic vs deliberative processing.

Can I recommend Sophie's World, by Jostein Gaarder? It's a fun, easy novel that serves as an introduction to the history of philosophy.

Something else that was a lot of fun when I read it a few years ago was Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality
Since this is technically "fan fiction," it can't actually be published as a book (J.K. Rowling owns the rights to the characters), but it's brilliant, educational, and hilarious, especially if you read the real Harry Potter books.
