Two takeaways:

1- I’d love to see him in P&G

2- He’s fiercely loyal to OU

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

And grew up in Lubbock. Coached there his first 6-7 years out of college. But fiercely loyal to someone in their conference.

He was there for 2 years before he cherry picked the job after a June Stoops retirement. If Scotty wants him he has no practical reason to say no. LSU in the sec is a better job than OU in the SEC

Fiercely loyal may have been a little strong on my part. He used the word loyal a couple of times and sounds very genuine. It’s hard to read these guys. When you hear some ask why he would leave OU headed to the SEC vs why wouldn’t he come to LSU where he’s more likely to win a championship you can’t know which way he’s thinking.

Listening to him I could see him staying at OU if they come close to LSU’s offer. Is OU willing/able to do that? Money does talk.

A third thing I picked up from the interview - his wife is a babe.

If we are looking to pay 12 million a year, we can do better than riley. Thats a damn fact. Thats bigtime money. I wouldnt even settle on riley if we are putting that much money up. Thats frickin bill belichick money. He makes 12 mil a season at new england. Screw lincoln riley if we are making that kind of financial committment. You realize that 12 million is about 2-3 million more than the saints pay sean payton, the seahawks pay pete carroll, the rams pay sean mcvay, and what the raiders paid john gruden? That would make the LSU head coach the highest paid coach in football PERIOD. So, if we are swinging for the fences like that...to hell with lincoln riley. We might as well say frick it and put up as much money as it takes and get saban.

He is fiercely loyal. Named his dogs Boomer and Sooner. He is throwing out those buzz words he wants his recruits and boosters to hear, after a let down game.

If we were looking to make our next hc the highest paid hc in football...go for nick saban. Pay whatever it takes. It wont be much more than 12 mil a year. If we are going to pay that, go for the damn chips. Thats alot of money. Saban only makes 8.7 mil at bama, maybe a little more than 9 with incentives. Go for it. 12 mil is alot of damn money.

What are "real nfl coaches" and what do you think theyre paid? You think bill belichick makes much more than 12 mil a year? If you do youre a moron. I can all but assure you that nfl head coaches dont make that kind of money either.
