Booked flights to Aruba in July for Oct 31 - November 5. Flight to Charlotte was fine on the 31st, was about to board the flight to Aruba (literally, the gate agent announced that the flight was waiting on 2 flight attendants). 5 minutes later American canceled the flight. With the lines for customer service about 100 people deep, we decide to book JetBlue for Monday the 1st. American's website didn't show anything to Aruba until Wednesday the 3rd. Paid an arm and a leg for the JetBlue flights.

Just tried to get a reimbursement from American through their website and they offered $26.45 for each ticket. I'm on hold now waiting to speak to an agent. They have lost their minds.

It's something about Charlotte and American Airlines. We had out flight from Charlotte to New Orleans a couple months ago get cancelled at the last second just like you, and when I was at the airport two weeks ago I saw that yet again American flights to Charlotte were either extremely delayed or canceled.

I concur. frick American Airlines.

Its incredible how much leeway they are given to just give a big giant middle finger to their customers.

Its like if I go to a restaurant and order Spinach Cannelloni. Instead, they bring me chicken alfredo and tell me if I would prefer lasagna, I can get it but pay $20 more than the Cannelloni I originally bought

Didn’t American just release new policy on cancelled flights and the gist was, “sorry, you screwed”

I think once you click the box on their T&C’s you accept this

I’m in Charlotte as I type. Had zero problems so far. Hoping my last flight this afternoon gets me home without any hiccups. Fingers crossed

We really need a Passenger Bill of Rights like in Europe.

If the airlines don't want one in place then promptly tell them to frick off next time they ask for a bailout.

We had a bad experience flying American thru Charlotte. That was 4 years ago. Customer service was so bad, I swore off flying American ever again. Multiple stories like yours, have only reaffirmed my decision. I'd gladly pay more for travel thru another airline, than be put thru the shitshow that is American.

I fly every week or two. I usually have 5-10 trips on AA every year.

I don't know if I've had one trip this year that they haven't screwed up. The BS, excuses, arrogance, and lateness is manifest.

Unless I'm going to Dallas, I basically won't fly AA anymore.

We had an AA flight delayed 3 hours in Dallas on Friday because they were missing one flight attendant. It was getting late, and I bet we weren't too far away from a cancelation. Just made it though.

The news that AA pilots turned down a shite ton of money for the holidays has me terrified.

Gonna be a shite show and i'll be center stage.

AA pilots rejected a 3x pay increase over holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) so have a feeling it's going to be a bumpy ride the next two months

United just announced they are pulling out of Monroe early in 2022. So unless you want to fly to Atlanta when heading out west, American is your only choice. This sucks.

They cancelled my flight from Amarillo to Dallas (then to BR) Oct 28th, let me rebook for the next morning at 5am. 3am I get an email asking me to verify that they could delay me until the next day. I got them to swap my flight that would depart from Lubbock, so I hauled arse the 2 hours to Lubbock only to have that flight delayed an hour and a half because the flight crew was unavailable (something with their 10 hour rest window). Then delayed another 45min because there wasnt a ground crew available due to them being in a safety meeting....

While rebooking I asked why the delays. I was told Air Traffic the first time rebooking, second time I was told weather in the Dallas area. I shot in the dark sent an email bitching like a Karen, which they basically blown off. They stuck to the weather issues excuse.

Then I find out later on from a gate attendant in Dallas that Oct 28th was American Airlines deadline for all employees to either be vaccinated or terminated. Obviously they were short staffed and used any other excuse they could.

It’s worse. The restaurant hasn’t been consistently bailed out by the People. And then the restaurant never bought back it’s shares with the Peoples money. They are all fricking criminals
