Seems like a fishy map though - why such stark contrasts in neighboring states like TN and OH which are almost all gray (non partisan or independent)?

Three things:

1. and 2. are obvious, but how are PA and MI so lopsided?

3. How long till Texas goes blue? Growing up I never thought it could happen, but all things are subject to change I guess.

Inner cities vs the burbs.
The way it's always been; likely the way it'll stay.

For Texas, this can't be totally accurate. Texas does not allow voter registration by party.

The only way to become affiliated with a party is by voting in their primary or run-off.

Any person registering after the March primary or by not voting in the primary would not have a party affiliation.

You can register to a party, but it's not required.
