Nearly 100 million eligible Americans will not vote today

There are roughly 240 million voting-age people in the US, and even with a 60% turnout, 96 million people will not vote today. To further drive home the point, the winner today will likely do so on the backs of ~30% of the eligible population. In other words, roughly 70% of eligible voters will NOT vote for the winner.
No amount of fraud or other shenanigans compares to the amount of people who simply are not engaged enough or do not care enough to vote today. I'm not calling these people out as much as I'm calling out the political system for how little they seem to care. I don't know how you fix it, and smarter men and women than me are trying to do so, but something needs to be done. Both sides hoping to win because people don't show up seems almost un-American.

That's ok. There will be plenty of non eligible people voting for them instead.

Mixed in with the fact that one of our candidates actively has discriminated against most if not all of that voting block, it makes you wonder, why? (P.S. I mean HRC, not Trump)
Against gays, racists against AA's, Whites are deplorable.
How the frick can she be a candidate, and the likely president of us all? How?

That might be the biggest thing I realized this election: the vast amount of people who either don't care or can't be bothered enough to learn about the issues, the candidates, and the direction our country will go in depending on a vote for or against, or no vote. It's a little disheartening.

That's how we are going to win this thing, Chief!
I think a lot more people are "engaged" than they are expecting. Trump over performed in the primaries to everyone's disbelief. No reason why that ends today.

So if most people voted for nobody, shouldn't nobody win?

Because the GOP nominated a 70 year old narcissistic orange man with asbergers and the temperment of a pissed off teenager?
There were 10 candidates on that GOP debate stage that would beat Hilary.

Choosing not to vote is a valid option.

I think a big chunk of people are disgusted by both main candidates and there has been no visibility in the media to the alternate candidates so they are just saying frick it and not voting.

I'm rather agnostic in respect of this point.

I chose not to vote because:
1. Hillary is corrupt.
2. Trump is a clown.
3. Georgia is a red state, at least for this election, and my understanding of the electoral college system means my vote would count, but wouldn't matter.
4. My own laziness and carefree attitude towards politics in general.
5. I'm 25 and have yet to see a presidential candidate worthy of my vote in any election I've been able to vote in.

If you want a silver lining, hopefully this drives home the point about how far we actually are from these revolutions that the far left and far right seem to be salivate over. 40% of the country doesn't really care, and their still larger than the 30% or so on each side.

Why should we vote for one of two people we don't feel should hold the office?

If you're a registered republican, you're GOP in my mind. And honestly, the fact they chose Trump is a severe indictment on their intelligence. There were some really good candidates out there.
Same can be said for Dems and Hillary, but they didn't have all the choices the GOP had. It could be Bernie though, which would seriously jeopardize our nation's existence IMO he was President.
And its very clear that just because a candidate wins a primary, doesn't mean they have the best shot at winning the general.
Trump is a PR nightmare and an embarrassment. He's not even a fricking Republican.

I get it, but this has been an issue for over a century. 40% or so fail to turnout every year.

yep
Honestly, I think they need to move to a popular vote system, introduce at least 2 more political parties, and set term limits (though not aggressive ones).
People just feel disenfranchised with the whole system currently and feel like their vote doesn't count or matter.

They were announcing and clapping for 1st time voters at my poll this am. Very celebratory atmosphere.

I think the opposite. The more we expand the franchise, the worse it's going to get.

Because an election is most often not about what you want than it is the lesser of the evils. And that is important enough to merit your vote every time.
