Drafting the 2 spot tomorrow in money league.

12 team -1 pt ppr.
Someone convince me why I shouldn’t triple up on RB. With #2-23-26 picks
I’ve gone over several strategies and although the ADP/value picks will be screaming for a pair of WRs at 23 and 26 I just don’t think I can do it with how deep this draft is at WR.
With the mocks I’ve done and couple of other drafts Rb seems to be wasteland after the third round. Wrs on the other hand are plentiful with several nice low-key rooks and sleepers. I’m seeing some solid rbs falling in these spots like dobbins, mixon, Montgomery, sanders, ceh, swift, Carson Etc. I’d jizz if najee fell but he won’t.
I think the only other way I’ll go on this is Rb -rb-te2 here. Waller is tempting @ 26 if he holds on for that long. Three solid rbs would feel good right off the bat although I would be playing catch up on WR.
Am I nuts or is this a good approach ?

Don’t go into it with the mindset that it’s a done deal
Yes, there’s excellent WR depth in the 4th, 5th, and 6th. But there could be a game changer in the 3rd. I’m really liking Allen Robinson in the 3rd right now. There’s no such thing as a lock, but he’s a top 12 WR if he’s healthy.

I'm 2nd in a 12 team PPR too. I think you should grab at least one pass catcher in that first 3 rounds.
1st overall pick is taking a RB obviously. So if DK, AJ Brown, or Jefferson falls to you I think you should take them. Let the person that already took CMC make the decision on remaining pass catchers. So you could end up with Cook (or AK or whoever you chose at 2) and then your favorite pass catcher; then in the 3rd a CEH, Dobbins, or Montgomery.
Or take your favorite remaining RB in 2nd and whatever WR falls to you in 3rd.
In a few mocks I've done recently, neither JJ, DK, or AJ Brown have fallen to me in 2nd. In that situation I am smashing the draft button on McLaurin, then taking the best available RB in the 3rd. Usually Dobbins, Carson, or Montgomery.
But if one or more of JJ, DK or AJ fall I'll take them then best available with 3rd, and if that ends up being a WR like McLaurin or TE like Waller then no problem. Decent RB2 options in the 4th.

Not nuts I am considering the same but will largely depends on how the draft plays out

I like the other guys you mentioned at the turn but no way I’m taking Allen Robinson with 23 or 26. I think the only way I’m going WR at 23 or 26 is if something crazy happens and diggs or tyreek fall. Possibly Hopkins as well. I think if I get set at rb early or get two and a top tier TE the rest of my roster will round out nicely. I think the play is to give yourself the best chance for consistent production in the spots that are the hardest to do so which I’m thinking is RB and TE.
Rb is looking dicey after round 3 and TE is a done deal after kittle and Waller are off the board.

Yeah the situation that I am in is that I am in a keeper league and have Dalvin Cook locked in as my keeper and 2nd round pick. My last year I will be able to keep him at that pick. I draft 6th and based on the other keepers I’m probably looking at JT, Najee Harris, Ekeler, Adam’s, or Hill.

How would y’all rank the following running backs
Full ppr
Jk dobbins
David Montgomery
Chris Carson
Miles sanders
D’ Andre Swift
Josh jacobs
I think these will be the almost for sure available guys at the turn.

Don’t be too stuck into an approach. I drafted BPA until last year where I was 10th and was dead set on a certain strategy and it burned me badly.
Just try to get 3 really good players in the first 3 rounds, after that just let the roster fill itself out. Draft Cook and then let the rest fall to you. That’s the benefit of drafting in the top 5, good players will make it back to you.

JK Dobbins - Heavy run offense but looks to split carries with Gus edwards. Gus likely to be a consistent TD vulture along with Lamar but Jk will hopefully get receiving work.
David Montgomery should be workhorse especially with Cohen still rehabbing but oline is bad.
Chris Carson - Should return to his usual lead role but has been injury riddled recently. Watch for Penny and Collins who have came into camp in gret shape to steal some caries.
Miles Sanders- Talented back but struggling at camp has been said to be more of a committee approach in Philly. Offensive line is healthy again. Rookie Kenneth Gainwell is interesting to keep an eye on.
D’Andre Swift - Could split carries with Jamaal Williams. Oline has been bad but should be improved with Penei Sewell and Vitai bolstering the right side. Would like him a lot if he wasn’t hurt right now.
Josh Jacobs - should get early down and goal line work but will be non existent in pas game. Likely more of a split with Drake but Jacobs is still the more talented back in the run game
It is a crapshoot. Have to go with your gut on who you like more. Would say carson has the highest floor. Dobbins, Swift, and Sanders with the highest upside. (Philly had their whole starting oline on IR last year). Sanders probably at the same time has the lowest floor. Could see him losing carries Scott and Gainwell if he keep performing poorly. David Montgomery best volume and lack of competition for carries (There oline scares me).

Thanks for your feedback. Definitely wanna load up early on rb but these things are so unpredictable. If Calvin Ridley falls to 23 I may not be able to pass him up there. I’m very high on him this year.

Ridley hasn't been there at 23 in any of the too many mocks I've done.
Being familiar with the person in our 1 spot, I think he's taking 2 pass catchers to go along with CMC. So I think my best bet is taking my favorite WR at 23 expecting whatever RBs I have my eye on there to come back to me.
Once JJ, DK, and AJ are gone, I see McLaurin as a tier above the remaining WRs. So if those first 3 are gone and I pass on Terry, he will likely not make it back to me at 26.
In a situation where 3 out of those 4 WRs are still on the board, a safe play could be take whatever RB you like at 23, then gladly take the remainder of those WR's at 26.

I ended up getting Clyde at 23 and Montgomery at 26. Dalvin cook #2 overall. I know Clyde is a little dinged up but it’s a long year and I think he’ll be great. Wanted Waller at 26 but he got scooped right before my pick.
Wrs are okay I ended up with Tyler Lockett, kupp , OBJ
Te weak. Got tonyan
Russell Wilson at qb. Burrow for backup.

Do you have a screenshot of the full draft board?
Posted on 8/23/21 at 8:43 am to drizztiger
I don’t see an option to pull up the entire board. If you tell me how I’ll do it. I don’t see it anywhere on ESPN.

Not sure if u can read this

Yeah, those are very readable. I'm starting to take a look.
Surprised CeeDee went that early before some other WRs.
I don't generally triple stack RBs, I like WR for Flex spots when at all possible.

Yeah . If dk , Ridley, or jets woulda been there at 26 I prob would have grabbed them. I was gonna get Waller but he went at 25. I think Montgomery could be awesome this year so I just loaded up at rb and just did my best from there on out. I still think I came out above avg at wr considering.

You & I had very similar drafts...got Cook at 3, Clyde at 22, AJ Brown at 27, and Robinson was still there at 46. Aiyuk on the turn and got Dak as my QB next time around...pleased with those outcomes (12-team PPR)
