Stephenson left Wednesday's start for Triple-A Louisville with an apparent injury.
Analysis: Cincinnati's top pitching prospect issued back-to-back walks to open the third inning, and after a brief visit from the trainer, Stephenson exited the game. The nature and extent of the injury are uncertain, but it would be a shame if it turned out to be something significant, as Stephenson appeared in good position for a September callup.

Bird was recalled by the Yankees on Thursday, the YES Network's Jack Curry reports.
Analysis: He will back up Mark Teixeira at first base and Alex Rodriguez at DH, as the Yankees have a long stretch of games coming up and they want the flexibility to give the veterans a day off here and there. Bird, 22, has been mashing since he was promoted to Triple-A, slashing .301/.353/.500

Should have traded him to me when you had the chance.

How are the teams that don't make the playoffs seeds determined for next year and the bottom feeder? Are they locked at the end of the regular season or is there a consolation bracket?

From the Constitution:

quote:

C. Rookie/International Draft (beginning in 2016)
1. Draft will be a slow draft consisting of two rounds.
2. Draft order will be the reverse order of finish from the previous regular season. In the event of a tie in the standings, the team that won the H2H matchup the season before will get the higher pick.
3. Draft will be in a straight (non-snake) format.

There is no consolation tournament. Bottom two teams in the regular season standings pay bottom feeder penalties of $50.00 each.

If there is a tie for one of the bottom feeder penalties, the teams will split the penalty.

big move for a playoff push. MWG sold his entire farm and didn't get that kind of return.

Part of me was hoping he would reject it.

I really like Frazier.

I like it. So what if you traded out a potential young stud for a 35 yo masher. You're fighting for a playoff spot now, you ain't guaranteed tomorrow.

I would have liked to get a little more for Cruz, but I don't want to take the risk of having to move him next year when he could just be the Nelson Cruz he has been for 80% of his career.

I now can FAP to my minor league hitters.

Dozier
Frazier
Judge
Renfroe
