I am not from Baton Rouge but will be there this weekend for a meeting while there would like to do a nice dinner with my wife for our anniversary. Looking for something where she can get dressed up and force me to wear a sports coat.

I was considering Mansours or Supper Club but really sure of nice fine dining options there. Do you all have a favorite or good recommendation?

TIA!

Ruth’s and that’s it

Supper club is more showy and trashy

Maison Lacour is my personal favorite.

Mansur's if you want Seafood
Gino's if you want Italian
Ruth Chris's if you want steaks

If you ask me what the best fine dining restaurant in Baton Rouge is, I’m picking Mansur’s as #1.

Behind that, I’m picking French Market Bistro and Ruth’s.

Sullivan’s if you’re looking into eating a great steak.

Thank you all for the responses I’ll keep checking if anyone has another idea. We have eaten at several Ruth’s before and have eaten at Sullivan’s so will likely pass that and am really leaning towards Mansur’s. Gino’s and the French restaurant look interesting as well. This is all very helpful thank you

Yes, to Mansur's or French Market Bistro, they have the same lineage.
Nino's for Italian over Gino's for me.
Maison Lacour is also a favorite, but I haven't been since before Covid and they have switched to two evening seatings and the son-in-law is now the chef (I think that's right, but it could be the daughter).

Stroubes, Little Village, or Ceceila if you want to go downtown.

Go to Vintage or River Room for a drink after.

Do not take your wife to Gino’s. Please.

Ruth’s or Maison Lacour

Maison LaCour for sure
Caveat: haven’t been there since new chef if that’s true

Mansur’s is great. Honestly, I find the bar area (even AT the bar) better atmosphere than their dining room, but they do tend to have a piano player in the dining room.

Make reservations wherever you choose. A lot being named are hard to roll up to last minute on weekends unless you’re 5:30 diners like myself.

Last time I did Maison Lacour you had to text the owner to make a reservation. Haha. And she told us no CCs, but I’ve heard that’s just a preference and not a demand.

Is Juban’s not any good? Went there about 10 years back and remember it being pretty good

It is not.

The best experience imo would be Cocha. I don’t go for stuffy though. I wouldn’t feel the need for a jacket anywhere in BR except Ruth’s which is still very good.

If you're willing to drive, the Carriage House at Houmas House is a great meal.

Might be too hot, but the gardens are really nice to walk around before or after your reservation.

I believe Mansurs has a jacket dress code, but I could be wrong.

Jubans was always great but I haven’t heard great reviews since they reopened. I haven’t been since the reopen.

Mansur's doesn't require a jacket but you're not going to look out of place wearing one. I also agree that it would be a great place to go for your anniversary.

I've never cared for Jubans. Always thought it was overrated. I gave it chance after chance but finally I gave up. They did a "revamp" to try to revitalize it but honestly I didn't notice much difference.

Ruth Chris is a much better deal
