You can join me...it will be your treat, of course, since you will be enjoying the pleasure of my company, which is worth the $500 alone.

Donnie's Restaurant in Jennings. One of the few restaurants that I ordered gumbo at.

Tchopitoulas Plantation, the food was so-so, but the bar was tremendous.

Speaking of Brunings on the NO Lakefront, if anyone remembers it had sinks along the dining room walls so you could wash your hand while eating boiled crabs. I have never seen that in another restaurant.

The Crab Trap has this sort of...it was enough to remind of the old West End days.

Sid Mar's was the spot I grew up going to the most...then Brunings.

Jaeger's was the date spot...the food was not all that good but I crafted much of my game on dates there. ....so it has a special spot in my heart.

I really miss SidMar's and Brunnings. We used to go eat at one or the other almost every Friday or Sunday night.

Tiger Attorney, I'm a little disappointed you have not mentioned La Riviera after 3 pages. Crabmeat Ravioli was unique and delicious. So was the Osso Bucco!!

Great reference. Godfreddo was an icon on the NO culinary scene. I really miss La Riviera.

Wow, I can't believe somebody else was thinking of this.

(It was Don E.'s, by the way).

He had a white catfish courtboullion that was awesome. It was the first non-red courtboullion I'd had. He told me that was the way they did in the old days in Ville Platte. When I told my dad about it, who spent part of his childhood near Ville Platte, he made the same thing, and it rocked as well.

Yep, Don E's, right off I-10. I still occasionally think about it when I drive by.

I'll do it for him, I remember the great crabmeat ravioli there, but what was the name of the French restaurant that moved into that spot after La Riviera failed? They were on Read Rd. in NO East and at one time it was called "The French Table". For a while I worked in Gentilly and used to go there for the best damn lunch specials.

I always thought the biggest problem with that location off Transcontiental was the lighting. The dining area had these big glaring lights that made everything look harsh, the mylar in the wallpaper didn't help.
