His statement could be taken either way

Plugra is fine for baking and cooking. But tastewise, for eating directly, you can surely do better. Locally, T and R dairy out of Liberty, MS produces a cultured butter sold at farmers markets.

As for supermarket-sold butter, I like the Isigny St Mere butter from Normandy, it’s made by a cooperative. I visited Isigny, so maybe that makes it more flavorful....LOL. Anyway, the Isigny butter with fleur de sel de Guerande is pretty damn awesome. LINK
Whole Foods has it sometimes, as does Dorignac’s.

If you really want to geek out on butter, get your hands on Bordier butters, made by Jean Yves Bordier, The seaweed butter is crazy good. LINK. I have no earthly idea where to find it in the US, Ive only seen it in Framce.

President Butter is good.

If you can get past the fact that it's made by the surrender monkey French

I like the Amish butter too. I also like the Isigny Ste Mere when I can find it.

Caught this on sale one time and, gotta say, it was surprisingly tasty...moreso than many of the imported butters I've tried.

Bump (not for more downvotes thank you very much ) but because several posters talked about Vermont Creamery in this thread and I noticed this weekend both Kroger and Walmart are now carrying this.

So that makes it a bit easier to try it. I got some and thought it had a great taste compared with regular butter sticks.

Sadly, I'm often the only upvote I get...one lonely vote...

I seem to have a random downvoter on several of my posts. I got one on the screened porch thread when I said I would come back later and post pics.

On a related note I was going to try to make my first batch of butter from cream tomorrow in the stand mixer. Any tips?

never thought i'd sit still and watch a 10 minute video on a guy making butter but that was fascinating.

eta found a place you can order it online in the US. very surprised its only $8.50 for a 125g block

LINK

There's a flat rate of $15 for shipping unless you spend $100+ then shipping is free. This might be worth doing as a gourmet christmas gift basket for friends.
