Plus the atmosphere at Lou’s is so much better. A more old school Chicago feel.

Pizanos thin crust

To be more clear, Pizano's thin crust is by no means "thin". It's just not an actual pie. And it has an unbelievably awesome butter crust. The State Street location is awesome.

I’ve never had Gio’s but I do want to try it. I’ve had Lou’s shipped frozen too me and they were excellent. We are eager to try Gios.

Still have fond memories of Lou's butter crust

Overall, New York style pizza is my favorite. But, a lou’s butter crust pizza is probably the single best pizza I’ve ever had.

Girodano's is in eight states. It's easier to find even if you aren't in Illinois.

Go with Lou, which I would choose over Giordano's, anyway.

This is good advice.

In terms of deep dish / pan, these are the three “popular” places to go, but Art of Pizza on Ashland (Lakeview) is better than Giordano’s and Lou, in my opinion.

This is also true. When I was buying my condo, I'll just say that being close to Art of Pizza was not something I was upset about.

Not a ton of atmosphere there, but the pizza is the best deep dish in the city.

Pequods is ok but if I have to eat deep or pan I’m going with dominos every time

Mental note: who NOT to listen to on any discussions about pizza.

Wife has decided not the leave Midway so I plan two things, goto one of the pubs there and go get a Chicago dog and demand ketchup.

I would go get Barraco’s Pizza (probably thin crust, but deep dish is also good) probably over Lou’s or Giordano's if layover is at MDW. Barraco’s Italian sausage is better than either.

Ate at the Giordano's one stop off the airport. Train and one uber. Order when you leave the airport and it should be ready, I would think.

There is a Giordano's literally next to the airport. It's been there at least 15 years. No point in traveling anywhere else if he's just on a brief layover and wants Chicago style pizza.

Giordano's has locations all over now including Orlando

I tried it the last time I was in Orlando. It was good, but I really wasn't wowed.

Non-Chicagoans don't understand that deep-dish pizza is made in two distinct styles.

Lou Malnati's makes classic pan pizza, which has the conventional pizza structure of dough topped with sauce topped with toppings - just in thick layers.

Giordano's, however, is known for stuffed pizza, with an extra layer of dough above the cheese and fillings, which is then topped with sauce.

Both styles use deep pans. But they are very different.

Beware of people making definitive statements about which is the "best" or the "goat" deep-dish, when they show they don't even understand that the form has two different styles.

We enjoyed it so much we had some shipped for my son's birthday. I may order Lou's soon.
