I ate there yesterday and it was not good at all

I got the pulled pork and fatty brisket with Mac and cheese and fries, and everything besides the fries seemed like it was just sitting on the counter all night. Everything was cold. I'm going to give them another go eventually

I live near HannahQ on Gov.. Had it a few times now, including a few days ago. It's pretty solid stuff. In a city with a severe lack of serviceable BBQ, it stands out for me.

I usually get some wings, chicken, turkey, and a little brisket for my fam. Sides are good. Greens are a must.

I went to Government a few weeks ago due to the praise it gets here, and I was kinda confused because it wasn't very great.

I had the same experience a few weeks back. Went over there on a Sunday evening and got some to go. I found it to be meh at best and haven't been back since.

Went by Bluebonnet the other day. Really friendly service. Large portion, but I paid for it.

Brisket was average at best, hardly no smoke ring and low smoke flavor, a bit dry. Mac cheese was good, sweet potato casserole was good. Much better than my last experience of potato salad and baked beans.

As with my other experiences, it was ok, but definitely nothing wonderful. It gets the job done but not going to knock your socks off.

The Christian music blaring was a bit too much.

I’ll continue to go for lunch, but I’m not bragging about any of it (yet).

Just seems like they keep the meats until they sell, rather than making fresh.

Everything I have had from this place (one on Government) has been fantastic.

Did they close the Jones Creek location?

Jones Creek is Jasmine’s, the same owners of HannahQ. It’s supposed to be open, but they recently announced they were taking a break due to staff shortage. Not sure what that means. Seems like if they can staff a new Hannah, they can staff Jasmines. Maybe Hannah is just more profitable?

I wonder if many on this board simply don’t know good barbecue, or if the owners are posting on this board. Because the handful of times I’ve been, it just isn’t fantastic barbecue and it gets so much praise here.

To be clear, I got the brisket grilled cheese. So not a true test of there food. It was damn good but I couldn't tell you if the brisket was actually good in that pile of delicious slop.

Biggest problem I've had is that it's inconsistent. Sometimes it's really good, but other times it's pretty bad.

This

Ate there twice since opening.

First time: mixed brisket was flavorful, wet was super moist. Chicken had great flavor, pork as well. Sides were excellent.

Following week: Asked for mixed brisket, got all dry, no flavor. SO got pulled pork, bland. Sides, still solid.

Both times had to double check and remind them to give us sauces.

.....It's early in the opening period so I'm not condemning them or anything. But consistency is the key to sustainability in the industry IMO. Both food and service.

As someone that's lived in Houston and Austin, I'd say the bar for good BBQ in Baton Rouge is pretty low lol, yeah.

But when they were on point, I did think it was solid enough.

There are plenty of folks on social media who are excited about the grand opening of The Shed. That should tell you all you need to know.
