The best Mexican nearby is Xochi. It may be a bit of a walk from Lancaster, but do-able and worth it.
There really isn’t a great sushi option nearby but Uchi is your best bet if Ubering.
Another good close restaurant stumbling distance from Lancaster is Hearsay Gastropub. There are 2 downtown locations but the Market Square location is the one to consider.
Haven’t been to The Post as mentioned in this thread, but it’s got a solid buzz.
Also check out Bravery Chef Hall as a nearby option. It’s a food hall, but features many good dining options.
If you’re open to a French Bistro environment, consider Brasserie Du Parc (similar walking distance as Xochi). I’ve never had a bad meal there. Quite the opposite - every dish is in the conversation for best version of that dish I have ever had.

Really enjoyed Steak 48 a couple weeks ago. Outstanding service and the food was fantastic.

Concur with everyone about Ninfas, El Tiempo and Xochi, but the best tex-mex near lancaster is Irma's. Best mix plates in the city and just an awesome OG texmex vibe when you sit in the original building in the back. Don't ever have to look at a menu as they just spit off the specials and then bring them to you.

Irma's is solid. I don't think they have every actually told me what they are bringing me or if I have ordered. They usually just make sure you aren't allergic to something and how hungry you are.
great spot before Astro's games.

Irma's is meh...best thing about COVID was not having that place suggested for lunch for 2 years.
The specials never change...carne guisada, mole, a fajita...every time.

I’m with you but let’s clarify a couple of things for outsiders.
1) Xochi in no way, shape, or form should be mentioned in the same sentence as Ninfa’s, El Tiempo, or even the phrase Tex-Mex. Heck, even calling it Mexican food is accurate but misleading. It would be like saying Peche or Commander’s Palace is American food. It’s accurate, but misleading.
And
2) You’re talking about Irma’s Original and not Irma’s Southwest (which is also downtown). Or do you view it differently?

1) Agree that Xochi is a much different expectation that other "mexican". I was more grouping it with El T and Ninfas just out of convenience for listing good restaurants.
2) and yes, I'm talking Irma's original. The Southwest one is an abomination.

Forgot to add that for sushi, I love Kokoro in bravery chef hall. Great quality of fish and bravery chef hall is very close to Lancaster.

Xochi and other Hugo spots are high end mex-Mex, xochi being the most out there. el tiempo and ninfas are tex-mex
You’ll end up spending about the same at any of them.
Side-note Hugo’s new spot Urbe is excellent
