Dear Friends,
Istrouma at Sugar Farms is officially closed and will be moving to a new location in Fall 2026! As my Grandmother used to say, “We are going to town(Baton Rouge)!” The farm and the Istrouma facility in St. Gabriel will be sold. Leaving the farm is hard but we are looking forward to the next chapter.
My family and I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this dream come true helping create life long memories for your families and ours.
Moving was a difficult decision weighed with love and prayer. It affects our family, our incredible staff, and our AMAZING customers. But we cannot wait to see you in our new location….we will keep you posted with progress and hope to announce sometime in the near future!
Warm Regards,
The Haynes Family

Bummed to hear this as being on the farm was probably the biggest reason we loved bringing our kids, we've made the drive more than a few times from Lafayette to go spend an afternoon there and they loved seeing all the animals.

That is a bummer
When the weather was good it was a great place to bring the kids
Beer was okay but the pizza was decent and the space was fun

I'd be shocked if they re-opened

it's a bad location
you have to make plans to go to that location
if it was closer to some normal traffic it might work better
breweries are hurting these days

Find it very hard to believe. The owner is a putz. The brewer is actually great but needs to be setup for success.

I said the same thing in June 2024 when they closed down and said they would reopen. But sure enough they reopened in Dec 2024.

Damn, that spot with the animals and stuff for kids was literally the only reason we went.

Sucks as it was a fantastic location to go and hang out on a nice day with the dogs. Not telling where they are moving but losing the whole vibe will really suck. The beer had gotten better but if they become a run of the mill brewery instead of tapping into the Bayou Teche model they won't survive. Place was always packed on Saturday and Sundays.

I wonder if they are planning on taking over the old Tin Roof location

This. I always felt it was too large of a building for such a small town as St. Gabriel.
Pick that whole building up and set it down at a better location, and they'd be printing money.
Even the Tin Roof location wasn't great.

Move it over to Tigerland and it would be a hit on game days.

Yeah the farm location and family friendliness was the primary appeal. The beer was mid.. hit or miss really.. and the food was decent but not worth the destination.

If they can't recreate the atmosphere they will struggle I'm afraid.

May sound crazy but Gordon should buy it and keep it as a brewery.

He’s done really well with Court to Table. Went there for the first time last week and was very impressed.

Court to Table really exceeded my expectations. Great facility, awesome service and food. Just a nice place.

Tin Roof had a decent amount of traffic. But I’m just trying to think of where they would be moving to. No way they are planning on building out a spot.

Food has been hit or miss, but when it misses, they will fix it without any hesitation

They had some public meetings a couple of months ago about putting a couple of subdivisions on that property. At the time, they said they would incorporate the brewery and leave some of the farm aesthetics in the plans. I guess they scrapped that and Bayou Paul is going to get more generic zero lot line DSLD homes.

They'll level the brewery and make an entrance sign/fountain with anything that's left.

They are probably losing a ton of customers who went for the farm, openness, etc that no other brewery really offers
