Went to Mike Shannon's (relatively fancy, at least for a steakhouse next to a ballpark) in St. Louis many years ago and they had sweet potato fries with spicy ketchup. My wife liked it so much she asked how they made it. "Heinz and Sriracha" was the answer so that's what we use to this day for sweet potato fries, but otherwise it's just plain Heinz for us, maybe the Heinz Natural if we're feeling fancy.

The correct answer is whataburger spicy

Where can you buy Whataburger ketchup? We don't have Whataburger in West TN, so I probably can't find it here

Whataburger actually has an online store! That's the only way we can get our hands on it up here. We order the Jalapeno Ranch as well.

Red Gold Ketchup...will never buy anything else as long as it's available

Absolutely this! I'll do Heinz in a pinch, but mostly rather go no ketchup if I don't have Red Gold. And it's nothing political. Red Gold is just literally, red gold.

My Rouses didn't have it for what seemed like close to a year, so I almost resorted to Amazon which was several dollars more expensive, but I chickened out. During that time, I ate almost no ketchup. I tried others, including a lot of the stuff already mentioned, but nothing comes close...

When I saw this thread title, I thought it would be my big chance to do a big humanitarian gesture for the poor deprived ketchup eaters of the world and share with them my "Trophy Ketchup", but geauxfish24 beat me to it. I would, however, recommend the Spicy (black label) over the regular.

BONUS: If you've never heard of or listened to Malcolm Gladwell's podcasts, you're missing out. If you can forgive him for being a liberal, it's worth a listen. Check out his piece in The New Yorker, The Ketchup Conundrum. He also has a podcast version of it but can't seem to locate it at the moment. Gladwell is simply fascinating to listen to. He could make a great story out of watching paint dry.

"He uses maple syrup, not corn syrup, which gives him a quarter of the sugar of Heinz. He pours his ketchup into a clear glass ten-ounce jar, and sells it for three times the price of Heinz, and for the past few years he has crisscrossed the country, peddling World’s Best in six flavors—regular, sweet, dill, garlic, caramelized onion, and basil—to specialty grocery stores and supermarkets."

I grew up w/Heinz, one of the few luxuries of my po' childhood. For many years I've bought Hunt's b/c it's a few cents cheaper and also to avoid giving money to John Kerry.

Just a few weeks ago I got Red Gold on the rec of this board. Couldn't tell any difference -- guess my taste buds are gone. Back to Hunt's (almost half off the price of RG) for me.

We grew up on Brooks tangy ketchup made across the river in Collinsville IL. I wish it was still in business, I compare everything against that.

They still have a water tower in town shaped and painted like the bottle.

I did my own taste test many years ago with Heinz, Hunts, and Del Monte. Del Monte was superior.
