Call me pedestrian but I much prefer the lobster roll that's seasoned and dressed like a seafood salad than butter only.. but it's still not as good as a Louisiana seafood or any other Po-boy. My feelings aren't hurt I assure you.

I agree with the Pedestrian, my brother in law used to live in Boston, and when we went up there to visit I was all pumped up about trying an authentic lobster roll - I think we went to Neptune Oyster, I remember there was a long wait.

Was Not impressed.

Also much prefer Louisiana shrimp / oyster poboys, and I like / enjoy lobster, order it every once in a blue moon with a steak.

I've heard the opposite. Not specifically Gulf vs Atlantic. But, oysters from clean water >> Louisiana. That's why those retired LSU guys went to Fort Morgan to start up an oyster hatchery/farm. Navy Cove Oysters. I think at least one of them does or used to post here.

Oysters from the upper Atlantic area (e.g., PEI) are vastly superior to Gulf oysters.

Hot take.

When it comes strictly to raw oysters, east and west coast oysters are superior to gulf.

Hard? Yes, they’re generally smaller and more delicate, and their salinity generally is more pronounced. Those are good things though.

Ehh, there are a lot of pacific NW oysters that are much more flavorful and briny than gulf oysters.

East coast oysters are absolutely not as briny, more delicate, sweeter, and not as gritty. The only thing about them is that because they have such delicate shells, they can’t be charbroiled as well. And they’re much more expensive.

That’s because of their low T on the East Coast

Was in Boston recently and ate oysters (and clams) at a few places. They were more expensive and smaller than Gulf oysters at home, but they were all briny and really good. No complaints other than the price, but they ain’t cheap here anymore either.

Captain D's has lobster rolls -- the lobster salad kind:

Lobster rolls

Not bad, but not that different from Imitation Crab salad. I prefer the hot, buttered lobster roll. I've only had those in the NE, so I don't know how much freshness comes into play, but there's not much to it. Good bread, lightly toasted, boiled lobster, and butter.
