Five Guys is a really good fast food burger. Mugshots is a crappy restaurant burger. I have no idea why anyone that claims to like burgers would defend Mugshots. Mugshots' burger is junk, and I'd bet it's gonna close within the next year.

Mugshots fries > Five Guys fries by a long shot.

Five Guys burgers > Mugshots burgers

Still, there are much better burgers around town than either one of these places.

See, I don't feel this way at all.
I find the meat and bread at Mugshot's to be far from crap.

Both are great burgers. Not a fan of the fries at fix guys though. Fried pickles at mugshots are really good.

Champs was terrible. Horrible food and service. At least mugshots specialize in good burgers.

The bun is the best thing about the Mugshots burger.

there should be a disclaimer on the mugshots menu saying "the only thing edible on our menu is our burgers"....

hey, it's a new place, we gave it a shot, didn't like it, and won't eat there again...no big deal.

next up, is lunch at the grape in the rowe...for some reason, we haven't tried it yet.

Five Guys is fast food and cost us $22

Huh? I don't pay that much for 3 of us.

Anyway, my main question would be why we would even compare the 2 in the first place.

Mugshots... we were being served, considering we were in a restaurant

Exactly.

fury .. how many times have you actually been there ? just wondering .. you seem to have some impressive venom rhetoric here ... your last visit must have been a classic failure ... personally, i haven't had a bad burger there yet .. haven't had bad service there yet .. and personally think the place is pretty good myself ... i think i have been about 6 or 7 times now and enjoyed myself each time ... either you or i just had a fluke experience because we seem to be polar opposites on this place ... just trying to figure out which one of us it is ... or, maybe you are just a far more pickier eater than i am and just have a more refined, discerning palate .. i dunno ... i have pretty much eaten hamburgers at just about every place imaginable in this city that serves burgers from mcdonalds to flemings and all points in between ... i think i can decipher the difference between putting something tasty and awful in my mouth ... now, granted, i am far from an iron kitchen culinary judge .. but i feel like i am a pretty good target audience for any restaurant around here ...

mugshots is far from a "crappy restaurant burger" to me .. you want a "crappy restaurant burger" .. ? go eat one at applebees, lonestar steakhouse, or chilis ... those are crappy burgers .. mugshots is clearly a cut above those and, IMO, one of the best burgers i have had in a long time in the city ... as for five guys .. fast food burger is a good category .. i have been completely underwhelmed, relative to the pre-game hype, both times i have been there .. it isn't much better than backyard burger to me ...

and let's not predict/pull for any business to shut down here in BR ... it is always sad for someone to lose their livelihood and this economy doesn't need that ... in the end, neither you nor i have THE opinion .. just OUR opinion ... continue giving your money to five guys and i will give mine to mugshots .. i feel like it is money well spent .. just my .02 ..

Is BR making its stake at becoming a burger town? It seems like you guys like your burgers.

seems to be the latest culinary genre to be opening up here in droves .. first it was chinese, then mexican, then sushi, and now burgers .. they are even opening one where the old caterie used to be on perkins ... to me, a burger's a burger .. you have to try pretty hard to make a crappy hamburger ... it is seasoning and creating a patty out of ground beef and then grilling it basically ..

My only qualifier to this is that I won't order one in a "sit down" place if I have to have it even one iota above medium.

I wonder what's next. Do the old fads tend to last or do they end up closing shop?

I've been to Mugshots and Five Guys one time each. You're right, Mugshots was a failure the time I went there. "Failure" might not be the right word...I got good service from the bartender, beer was cold. Just thought the burger was a big disappointment. And I never root for anyone to lose their jobs, or places to shut down. That's my prediction based on their overall quality of food, and how empty the place is when others tell me they have been.

It's funny that you accuse me of venom rhetoric, you're one of the most judgmentally over the top people on here.
