Moon, you should look into making a pizza vlog to share your knowledge.

He can’t, apparently the pizza sucks here. I’ll be eating a 7.8 tonight and enjoying the frick out of it.

Wasn't there a place called Dante's that had a pretty good slice?

Never said that. I enjoy Diversion. I enjoy Zee's. I enjoy Roma. I enjoy Venezia. I enjoy West Main. I enjoy lots of places. Just saying that it doesn't compare to the best places I've had in other areas. Sorry if that chaps your arse.

I agree that a 7.8 isn't a bad score at all, but it's not as great as some are making it out to be. There are 200+ other places that he's been to with higher scores, not to mention all the ones he hasn't been to.

I said I agree that a 7.8 is a decent score. Doesn't mean it compares with the top places, as evidenced by the Portnoy list I posted.

no lol

I have had NY pizza. I don't recall the couple places we went but it did not make me think, wow this is so much better than anywhere else.

I’m sure there’s some great pizza in NYC…

But when I look at Dave’s list and the scores given, I see a tremendous amount of shitty pizza coming out of New York City. According to him, and I’m good with his judgment.

"I'm not sure I believe it. Maybe it's true, but if so it didn't make much of a difference in my opinion. I've eaten there twice and found it to be mediocre both times. Paulie Gees was probably the best I've had and even it wasn't all that great."

Nothing I've had in New Orleans comes anywhere close to even the mediocre pies I've had in NY.

Portnoy has very specific tastes. I've been to a few places es he's reviewed, and I don't agree with him for the most part.

He only eats cheese pizza. I almost never do. He likes thin crust, specifically, with very little sauce. I like all types. Flavor is more important than style, to me.

He rated Byrnes Pizza by my old house in Indy as a 7.1, which is good by his standards. I thought that was incredibly generous.

Isn't New Orleans French bread German?

Yep, welcome to New Orleans where the Indians are Black, the French Bread is German, the French Quarter is Spanish, and the Irish Channel is filled in with Hondurans.

Not sure what you're not getting. Just because a pizza isn't among the best I've ever had doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. Heck, I enjoy Dominos and Fleur de Lis and Pizza Hut from time to time as well. Certainly not the best I've ever eaten but I still enjoy it.

Not sure what the issue is, considering Portnoy himself has over 200 other places rated higher than his highest place in New Orleans, pretty much echoing my sentiments

Blind taste test would have those ratings pretty jumbled.
