Absolutely agree with this. I really don't think of it as a "splurge" because this is for the rest of my life. So eating something not so healthy every once in a while is a necessity.

Got on the scale and dropped two pounds this week. Still in the first quarter of my journey but on the way!

Keep the focus everyone.

What exactly are you doing to lose?

So far just dieting. About 1500 calories a day, give or take 100 either way, and low carb/high protein. Most of the carbs I do take in are from fruits and veggies. I also eat as little processed food as possible and no fast food. 3 main meals of 400 calories or less and 2 snacks at 9 AM and 3 PM of about 150 calories each, usually some kind of protein bar, peanuts, hummus with carrot sticks, things like that depending on if I'm on the go at the time or not.

244. Hour bike this morning. Cold out there. I'll have a V8 and Go Lean Crunch by Kashi with skim milk. This is a good cereal. Then to the Science Fair at the PMac.

Day 8 of this stinking plateau.

I am going to the parents today and will eat more than normal so maybe that will get things moving again.

Congratz to everyone that is losing. Keep it up and try to behave this Halloween weekend.

I didn't take my own advice. Went a wee bit crazy yesterday. Not even gonna look at the scale today.

Oh well, back to work today.

231.4 this morning. Spent most of the weekend at work so it was easy to maintain the diet.

Horrible, horrible weekend. Friday was alright kept the diet until I arrived at my friends Friday night. Lets start the beer drinking. Saturday we prepped for the BBQ, bacon wrapped pork loin, Boston butt, Brisket. beans, spinach and artichoke dip and lots of beer. I knew this weekend was going to be bad and the drive back Sunday hit up some Taco Bell

This morning 232.6/230.8. Time to get back to work.

Can someone explain this to me? I've been stuck at 250-252 for over a week now. I read about "shocking" your system and throwing some extra calories on in order to get your body out of starvation mode.

Well, I've eaten my "old way" ever since Thursday and this morning at weigh in I'm at 251. I can't even gain weight now lol!

Seriously, what do I need to do in order to get the weight dropping again? Different exercising? I've currently just been walking/jogging about 3 miles a day without anything else.

Try to add some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), for 20-30 Minutes. Start off walking one minute then running/sprinting one minute, alternate over the 20 -30 minutes

Lucky you.

I was stuck at 238 for over a week with perfect 1200 calorie days with exercise so I decided Saturday to try and shock my system.

Gained 4 freaking pounds.

Here we are Monday and I'm at 242. That is the last time I shock the damn system because my metabolism seems so out of whack it is currently holding on to every single calorie I eat.

Sorry, I don't buy the 'shock the system' theory, twice it has only resulted in weight gain. It is perfectly normal to plateau as you change your eating regimen, just forget about it and enjoy your new lifestyle, the weight will come off. Plateaus are likely caused by the body trying to hold on to fat, or if you are exercising a lot the fat is being replaced by heavier muscle.

I have had a gastro virus for the last week, I have not lost weight which is surprising, but getting back to my exercise routine will be tough when I recover.

I just did two hours on the treadmill to get rid of the scotch and milky ways from last night. I feel better now but I felt like crap before that.

I'm with you on this.

I know the reason I am not losing weight is due to the fact that I have not cut my calories enough. I eat healthy foods & work out, but I need to drop the calories by about 300 per day if I want to see real results. I have to admit that I dread spending money again on a whole new wardrobe. I've already done this once. Yes, I know it's lame...

Got a colonoscopy last week. Dropped 6 lbs in 2 days. This method is NOT recommended.

I only pay attention to % body fat. Weight is not as important if you workout. The navy formula is on the web. Main controllable variable is waist size. I've been on a diet/gym program for 10 months and i've dropped from 30% to 24% along with 30 lbs (258/228). My aim is to get down to about 20%.

Been doing my own diet for the past 3 weeks, and just ran across this thread. How many calories are most of yall eating, and what is the workout schedule like for everyone (I usually get 3-4 days in and usually have one cheat day as far as food goes.)I have never really been on a diet for a serious length of time. Looking for any tips/advice out there. Oh and currently at 232

I think 1500 is the goal most people shoot for.

I stick to around 1200 but I have now been on this diet for almost 8 months so my metabolism is dead.

I was in and still am in horrendous physical shape, but I walk 2 miles 5 days a week and do 5 sets of
crunches and a few other exercises daily.

Good luck.

Welcome. Currently at 233 after starting around 255. I average right at about 1200 calories a day and have seen a steady weight loss with a plateau or two.

Not excersising at all yet but plan to remedy that soon. Felt like I needed to get my eating habits under control first. Was probably taking in anywhere between 2500 and 5000 calories a day before something clicked and I said "NO MORE". My body was freaking out at first but think it is under control now. :-)

Good luck.
