I'm still here! I cannot get off of this plateau though of 248-252. I'm not giving up and I'm still doing the same things that got me to lose the 20lbs I've already lost.

I'm still going strong, heck had pizza for lunch yesterday and still finished <1400 for the day. This isn't dieting, it's just eating smarter.
Down 33 lbs since 8/1, no real goal, just continue eating like this and getting at least a half hour exercise in.

So, do most of the PUTTAFORKDOWNers consider this a diet or a new way of eating/living?

Not lost just struggling. That Halloween weekend blowout put a damper on progress. Work has been getting busy so I haven't counted every calorie but not making stupid decisions with what I eat.
This morning I weighed in at 232.4/237.6

For me it's a new way of living. Some of my weight gain was due to my thyroid but high calorie and empty calorie eating played a role also.
I know how to eat more healthy and filling foods now.

quote:Same here. I love all of the changes that I have seen since I stopped eating unhealthy foods. I can't tell you how many improvements I have noticed since then. Even my eye doctor has been amazed at the improvement in my eyesight. I started this because I had high cholesterol and my blood pressure was elevated, and I did not like how I looked. One of my "go to" foods that I think is a super food is edamame. It is packed with protein. I also eat spinach almost daily. Paul Newman's ginger low cal dressing is only 30 calories per serving. This helps keep the calories down for the day.
For me it's a new way of living.

Back to my low weight before I tried to restart my metabolism.
For me I would say it is a diet but now that I have been doing it for 8 months I guess it is also a new way of eating.
I certainly don't plan to never have certain foods ever again and I certainly don't plan on eating 1200 calories a day the rest of my life.
I also doubt I will continue to work out 5 days a week. I will probably drop that to 3 days a week once the diet is over, which would be a change in lifestyle.
I also plan to continue weighing myself every day once the diet is over to make sure I am not creeping back up and to adjust what I eat based on maintaining my weight.
Hmmmmm..... I guess with all that said, it is a lifestyle change.

Hi everyone! I’ve been following this thread since it started and think you guys are doing great, Congrats to you all. I’ve been hesitant to post in this thread simply from the fear of anyone’s kneejerk reaction to what method I am using to lose my weight and finally realized what I’ve always known, opinions are like aholes everyone has one and I need to be nice no matter what is said.
I’m on the HCG diet and started it at 227lbs. Today is day number 29 and I’m down 25.5 lbs. I have 9 days left on my drops and as long as I don’t hit another little 2 or 3 day plateau in these remaining days I should end up losing 30ish+ pounds at the end of this cycle. The results so far are astounding and I can honestly say I haven’t felt this good since I was a child (wife is not convinced I’m an adult yet!) . A good friend of mine did this diet and I blasted him at first before I researched it for a month and had to apologize to him lol.
I’m 45 years old and for all of my adult life I have been overweight. I’m 5’9” and my top weight was 232lbs. and like every male in my family, all this weight is in my mid-section and chest. The men in my family have flat asses and a normal lower torso (the old lady really likes my legs ). I’ve dieted many times during the 20yrs I’ve been married and back in the mid 90’s actually lost 60lbs doing Jenny Craig but went on vacation to Gatlingburg right after that and gained 10lbs in a week and never looked back.
I love food and I’m not prejudice to any type either. I love good food, fast food and whatever I cook at home (BBQ, Jambalaya, Seafood, Gumbo’s and Rice and Gravies) and that’s not a good combination in south Louisiana!
My apologies for the long post, the pertinent info is in the 2nd paragraph for you TL:DR peeps . As you can see I’m pretty much a lurker but I really enjoy reading TD’s on a daily basis and the entertainment is pretty top notch. Keep up the good work guys and gals!

I have not had one side effect from doing this even though they do list some as a possibility.

I've heard of the HCG diets but I've been very skeptical. A few questions for you:.
What do you typically eat on a 500 calorie a day diet?
Do you exercise at all?
I've heard the drops concentrate the fat loss in the stomach, chest, and hip area. Any truth to this?
What company did you order from?

A couple of things from the Mayoclinic:
"the safety of HCG for weight loss is uncertain, and the hormone hasn't been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a treatment for obesity or weight control."
Seems like snake oil to me. See below:
"Although researchers have studied the HCG diet for years, no high-quality studies have shown that the hormone itself helps weight loss. Following any very low calorie diet is likely to result in weight loss, regardless of taking HCG."

Lost two more pounds this week. Down about 24 lbs with 56 more to go!

I maintained at 137 this week! I'm very happy because I thought I would have a gain after Halloween.
I wouldn't be surprised if the gain showed up next week because my body works like that sometimes.
Now on to tomorrow's tailgating. I will make good choices and not let my best friend (she is a food pusher) make me miserable.

I don't know a lot about this diet. Tell me about the maintenance phase. How many calories are you allowed then?
Has your friend finished losing yet and reached maintenance phase?
My sister, sister-in-law and best friend try almost every lose weight quick scheme out there and they lose lots of weight quick and gain it all back plus some in maintenance.
Just wondering what the track record is for long time results on this plan.
