There’s a lot of good/decent options right off the interstate in Covington/Mandeville.

Middendorfs & Phil's would be my recommendation due to the location since they are right off the exit.
Places like Southside and others will take time to get off/on the interstate.

You're only making one left turn to get to Southside. Nothing is too far as long as you don't have to get off at Gause

There is a Mediterranean restaurant in the fremaux center is very good and isn't expensive at all.

As do I.
My understanding is that a customer saw (only) the Nazi flag and concluded Southside was a Nazi sympathizer. To avoid any future misunderstanding, Southside relocated the Nazi flag or donated it to a museum since it was authentic.
Maybe something has changed, but I doubt Southside is any way woke. The place reeks patriotism and conservatism.
