cmon i mean REALLY?

whats the big deal? i also cant stand it coooked in an iron skillet

i think the iron skillet crowd likes salt alot more.

i really enjoy the taste of rare cow flesh. i really dont like to cover it up with anything..the charring and searing is enough flavor for me.

in fact i'm getting hungry for dinner now

I also am one who never salts meat before cooking. I don't add salt to anything I cook except boiling things. That's what salt shakers on the table are for. People have different toleranceas for salt. I have refused to eat meals when someone adds salt before cooking.

If you refuse to eat at my house, I politely ask you to leave. And by that I mean leave now.

Sorry. I watch my salt or sodium intake but I cook for me and if you don't like it take it too the house because I don't want you around.

exactly. Salt on a steak is a must. pre cooking, that is.

if you dont like salt on steak, you were raised to eat it the other way and thats all your taste buds know. Every great steakhouse ever buts a liberal amount of salt on all steaks, and theres a reason

The big deal is not that YOU don't care for salt on your steak, but that you can't fathom why anyone else on earth would want salt on their steak.

the reason most any steak (or any meat for that matter) is because it is overcooked

My mother-in-law cooks her steaks well-done. When she comes to visit, I always make it a point to cook her a steak that is M to MR, and she LOVES my steaks. I try to tell her that MR is the way to go, but she still insists on cooking the crap out of her steaks. She's a good cook otherwise, but she can't bring herself to cook her steaks any less than leather.

I don't know if that's because she's old or because she just doesn't pay enough attention to them once she puts them on the grill...

Have you not read this thread? There are more on here that can't fathom why he wouldn't put salt on steak.

Personally, I like salt on steak, but the high horse some of you are on is too much.

Have YOU not read his posts? Ppl aren't ridiculing him for not putting salt on steak, but instead it's the other way around.

Another poster said it best - we can understand why he doesn't like salt on his , but why is it so hard for him to understand why we do?

seriously most of the salt talk on here has been more informative than snobbery so you can lay off the high horse bs

There are plenty of posts here with the "I can't understand why you don't put salt on steak. All the best restaurants do it, so it must be right....blah, blah"

True, but I am not talking about most, and your statement has nothing to do with what I am talking about.

Some of what is here is pot and kettle.

fwiw i have nothing against salt..i love it in many things...but not my ribeyes.

i sweat out a couple buckets of salt on the weekends so i have no problem consuming large quantities of the stuff.

I season my steaks with a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic power, onion powder and paprika.

I sear in in a cast iron skillet and finish it on the grill. And as someone else stated here, I cook for me, the way I like it. I don't spend a lot time worrying about what other people say is wrong or right. My steaks taste great to me and that's all that really matters

Because eating meat every day = heart attack, right?

CAD would hate me. I marinate my steak in a mixture of soy sauce, worchestershire, a dash of tony's, basil, and onion powder for at least 12 hours.

Yeah, i don't get the hate. A steak with no seasoning doesn't sound good to me. But not everyone has the same taste in food. If that were the case there wouldn't be 10,000 different spices on the spice aisle at the supermarket.

I cook for my guests. If they want their steak well done or rare, that's what they get. If they want salt on it, there's a salt shaker on the table. I've eaten food others have cooked with enough salt to gag a maggot. I avoid eating out at places that are heavy on the salt. Just not a big salt fan.
