I went there for the first time in a couple years last month and got their CFS. I swear it was almost not edible. Don’t know what was up with that, but the service was worst I’ve ever seen it that night too so who knows.

Another surprisingly tasty version that hasn't been mentioned yet is Twin Peaks

I ordered sammy's to go last night

There is no steak inside this pic of the batter... It actually was fine because the fry batter was so fricking salty

would not order again

I remember it being damn good about 15 years ago but the last time I was there ~5 years ago it was much different and basically half the size it once was. I am not a huge fan of cracker barrels

It is an off menu item now. The last time we ate there, I had to special request it. It did not seem as good as the time before.

I live around the corner from Sammy’s in Prairieville. No to them, Dempsey’s, Frank’s, an anyone else close to Ascension parish. I actually think Twin Peaks is pretty good. Big slab but I would rather have quality over quantity. If you put gravy on the steak(which I love white) and the breading falls off, you are fired. I work not far from the Stockyard so I may have to try that one.
