Looking in particular at a 3.5qt braiser or similar.

Preferably Le Creuset so it matches the rest of my stuff but don't mind either way if it's quality. I'm not in a hurry, just want to have eyes on a few places incase a good deal comes up.

QVC had a 3.5 braiser with griddle cover for a good price before Christmas.

Staub often has a 4 qt cocotte on sale for around $125-$150 on various websites. Not sure if you can accomplish what you're wanting with that, but it seems like a good price.

I would've pulled the trigger in the past on that piece if all my other pieces weren't LC.

You can sometimes find "B" stock or "imperfections" of Staub online, that can be anywhere from 20 to 40 % off retail price.

Go to HomeGoods and buy a knockoff, they all pretty much the same thing.

Marshall's, Homegoods, T. J. Maxx all have them with some regularity, but it's mostly random pieces/inventory, so you might have to stop by once a week for a few weeks or whenever they get new inventory in. I was just in Homegoods for a cheap gift box, and there were several pieces of Staub on the shelf- I wish I needed another piece.

I thought this.

Got LC stainless and can say they definitely are not.

Got LC cast iron and the gulf isn't as wide... But there is a difference

I've bought several pieces of Le Creuset at the outlet mall in Foley AL for less than retail. All or most of their stuff is seconds, but it's often hard to find the slight imperfections that relegated them to that status. Sometimes the employees can spot a paint drip or chip. None of the blemishes have ever bothered me.

Is it more than a just the thickness of the cast iron? I've read articles in the past the pointed to that being the main difference, with LC being a little lighter weight, but I don't recall ever seeing a major difference in a side by side comparison.

I have an Oster brand enamel cast iron dutch oven that works for me, but it is heavy when I'm emptying it out and washing it- I'm always afraid that if it slips while I'm washing it, I'm losing a finger

On the stainless, they are extremely heat conductive. As a guy who hasnt burned anything since I was 5 or 6 cooking eggs... I burnt a fried egg as a 40 year old

On the cast iron, the coatings are perfect. My old lodge looks like crap.

I really want the stainless dutch oven from all clad. Looks legit.

We have a few LC enameled pieces and one cheaper piece from Target, the enamel on the LC looks great. The enamel on the cheaper pot looks like shite

there is a LeCruset outlet in the Riverwalk downtown New Orleans that runs sales periodically

My favorite is QVC , like the other poster said because sometimes they have exclusive items at good prices

Then you have Sur la Table when they have sales . Their rewards program is pretty good. My last purchase from them was a Tarte tantin , which has become my favorite , which has opened a whole new level of cooking
