Because despite what they may say nvidia is no longer a gamer company. They are putting all apples into AI

Can you blame them? Gamers are a fickle market and AI customers order by the truckload.

Definitely do not blame them. They are a business and are in business to make money, not friends. AI is where the money is

I bought one earlier in the year - I work in IT and built tons of computers over the years and was ready to just have one work out of the box for a change. So I found a good deal on an Alienware PC, got it for $2850... to get the same processor, but with 32GB less RAM and 3 TB less storage, you're spending $100 more.

I don't knock prebuilts, but I do generally knock Alienware prebuilts that use proprietary cases, motherboards, and PSUs, as it basically wipes out any reasonable possibility for future hardware upgrades. Hopefully you dodged that

This model does not appear all that proprietary, but admittedly I haven't looked that close. Now that you pointed it out I'll take a look next time I'm in my home office.

Obviously limited by geographic area, but friendly reminder for those who live near (or travel near) Microcenters: they routinely run fairly sexy component bundles. As an example, they are currently running three 9800x3D bundles that, while not the exact motherboard and RAM I would buy if I were building part by part, are perfectly serviceable components at that price point: LINK

Literally the only thing I miss from when I lived in Atlanta - being within driving distance of both Fry's and Microcenter

I bought a scalped video card for a new PC last March and was a little annoyed after prices bottomed out shortly after, but this is a reminder that you just need to act and can't time the market

Pretty much. It’s part of why I’m less pessimistic than a lot of others on here. The day we reach actual Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is the day I’ll flip the switch from “interesting” to “oh shite…”. The longer we stay in the Large Language Model (LLM)/Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) phase, the closer we are to the bubble popping, in my opinion.
