Doing this game by yourself is definitely challenging. I found 2 other people to co op with and we started blasting through it.

Update: I did molotov that garage door to get past that bug. Easy damn mission, though. Just OHK all the infected with a baseball bat and get a nice armored car and a walking inventory.
I think this game would be far too easy to coop.
I have only died 6 times so far on my solo run.
Although, 3 of my deaths are now in the first 2 story missions in the city
The suiciders piss me off when I am in my car...(2 of my deaths is running them over and kaboom)
The first ram gave me a ton of trouble, but now I think they are so easy to dodge and beat the crap out of.
I still have the most trouble with thugs though(I hate just staying back and throwing shite at them; I'd rather melee and kick them to death). I want to use my fury on them but they always get the first hit in and I waste it all. I know when I do my coop run next, I am definitely picking the black woman. I want a better fury.

I'd suggest Logan's. Nothing like standing 10-15 feet away and blasting a hoard of zombies or a thug with throwing knives.

I've tried all of them and Logan's seems to be the best.

sam b = fists
xian = a dagger (disappointing... I was hoping for a sword)
purna = pistol
in my experience, ranged attacks work best. it's a pain when you go to punch/stab a thug and get knocked on your arse. waste of a perfectly good fury...

You guys were right about the electrified machete. I just slice and dice people in one or two hits. It's also great against thugs or rams. Once you zap them it's game over man.

I seem to recall a little aim assist with the pistol... don't quote me on that though...
as far as melee stuff is concerned, you have to rely on your own ability to get in range of a target and beat em to death. You do get a nice damage boost. Sam B's attacks have quite a bit of weight to them. You can knock a zombie across the room once you've leveled his fury up high enough. Xian's main focus seems to be on speed.
I've got the most time logged with Logan and Purna though...

No kidding, that zone where have to keep running, but have to stop to open doors was terrible. I'd have like five infected and a sprinting ram on top of me every time I opened a door. Then I was trying to avoid a ram in a narrow alleyway so I ducked into the only open cell, I turn and around and it's a suicider who promptly blows me the hell up.

the pistol does lock on, apparently the throwing knives do as well. The fists are amazing against everyone but thugs(and suiciders obviously...)

I've made that mistake with suiciders a handful of times. I get wrapped up in the moment and swing on everything in range. occasionally one of those bastards manages to slip into the crowd.
