Does the uncharted series hold up?

Just bought a PS4 and was thinking of buying the original trilogy but I don't know how fun they would be.

They aren't bad but kinda samey. 2 is the best one for sure.
If you like cover based shooters and Indiana Jones style stories they could be up your alley.
They are also pretty short so it's not like you'll be stuck 50 hours playing through one.
They take about 10-15 hours of playtime at most on a casual first playthrough of any of them.

Nope. Most overrated series of all time. 4 was much better than the original 3

I agree they were very overrated. The critics have a huge boner for Naughty Dogs shiny packaging of otherwise mediocre games.

First one I played was 4.
It was real hard to play one. I still enjoyed it because unlike Carson, I enjoy the characters and story.
There has never been a better jump in game mechanics than U1 to U2.
U2 is a great game but I still like 4 the best. It ended on a perfect note.
U3 was entertaining but it was nothing but big set pieces with a weak villain. It is better than the first game but mainly because the mechanics were just so wonky / dreadful in the first game.
I think they hold up fine as long as you remember how old the first game is. Graphics take a massive hit if you jump from 4 to 1.
1 is fairly short so no reason not to just run through the whole thing but at least hit up 2. Lots of folks rank 2 as the best in the series so you should at minimum give it a try.
Don't listen to the haters. They hate 4 so what do you expect them to say about 1-3.

Replayed them with the gf recently. I enjoyed them again as did she.

While he is wrong about Uncharted, he is right with his list. Just understand Bloodbourne will cause several rage induced strokes. Worth it though.

Great series, UC2 is my favorite and then 4 3 1. All are worth playing though.

The series did not age well. I was lucky enough to play 1 and 2 as they came out, but I could definitely see how if you went back and played them recently they would not be as good.
3 was not great in general and I couldn't get into 4.
I think the mediocrity of 3 and 4 along with 1 and 2 not aging well makes it easy to say overall the series is overrated.

I bought a PS4 to play a few exclusives, this is one that I couldn't get more than half an hour in.

Yeah, games have cutscenes, crazy.
The biggest game of 2018, Red Dead 2, has a frick ton of cutscenes.
