?

This is precisely why they keep selling games and systems. People decide to put up with their weird decisions. This isn't like Xbox/Sony where I can go to the other platform and get largely a similar experience shunning the company who made dumb moves. You can't do that with Nintendo games.

2) It isn't about being stubborn. They just half arse a lot of features which give a terrible experience for their fans and supporters.

Yes, they do, and they've done it since the N64.

But again, what do you expect people to do? That's the question at hand. Complaining here on Tigerdroppings does nothing. So what should people like sic who wants Nintendo to succeed and people like Breesus and I who just like Nintendo games to do?

I'm saying, typically, Nintendo doesn't listen to their Western audience, and it's been that way for years. Even with something as simple as getting games released in the East over here.

So the question is, what are the options? I think most "fanboys" as people want to call them aren't really fanboys, they just kind of accept the situation at hand, see #1.

The big problem I see is that Nintendo is pigeon-hole'ing the experience I can have with them in such a big way. If this is their final solution to VC, no big time MP game that people expect to have chat with is going to come to the switch. It's limited in power and storage, so a lot of the big AAA games aren't going to come to it either. There isn't much left. Sure, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are great series that I want to play, but I'm not down for the buy in for just that. Especially if they keep making their eccentric head scratching decisions on design and functionality.

Well luckily for Nintendo, plenty of people are. I bought it just to play BotW and it was worth every penny.

MarioKart
Splatoon
Xenoblade
Mario
Zelda
Shovel knight
Smash Bros
Metroid

Nintendo switch is more than worth owning.

The switch hardware is awesome. Seemlessly going from handheld to console is amazing and it works perfectly.

Not only are they making a terrible decision here by creating a setup like this, they are also alienating all of their customers without smartphone/app access.

For me, absolutely not. There's just one game on that list, that's actually out, that I want to play. Mario should be good but that's still a ways off....and will more than likely get at least one delay. I'm all for Metroid but that's probably still at least 2 years out.

The hyperbole you throw around all the time makes it hard to take you seriously.

MarioKart - I remember playing this in 2014 on my Wii U
Splatoon - Comes out tomorrow, players would love a good voice chat
Xenoblade - not out
Mario - not out
Zelda - Great game. Could play on a Wii U.
Shovel knight - I remember playing this in 2014 on my Wii U (PS it has been out on everything)
Smash Bros - not out and has this even been announced?
Metroid - Have fun with that in 2019 or longer.

Not trying to hate but that list... Come on.

Then stop making threads about Nintendo. You don't like MarioKart or Zelda?

That's not hyperbole. It is amazing and it does work perfectly. I can't pick up my Xbox or Playstation and keep playing when I go take a shite or my wife bitches about the TV or I'm on a plane or a road trip.

I own it but do agree with you. There isn't shtt out for the system besides Zelda.

Pokken Tournament, Mario Kart are games I owned on WiiU. Arms I have no interest and Splatoon can do without.

Yep. Agree.

PS4 has been having remote play for a long time now.
Now you would need a Vita and an internet connection but you very much could do what you just said.

1. Get another TV. Why would you not have a gaming/computer room in your home?
2. I'm not a kid, I sleep on the plane.
3. I'm a man, I drive ppl where we need to go.

Edt: Plus I get car sick reading a book or looking at my phone while driving. Total pussy when it comes to motion sickness.

Not big into voice chat, huge Nintendo fanboy (generally), and will probably only play 1 game on the Switch that could even use VC... but let me tell you:

This is one of the biggest screw ups Nintendo has done in awhile.... like, just outside the abomination that is the WiiU

It's Nintendo though, so there is like 0 chance they listen to anyone unfortunately

I loved my WiiU just because of the game library. Outside of that, was a shtty console.

Agreed. But Rocket League is coming. And Overwatch was never going to come anyway.

It's limited in power and storage, so a lot of the big AAA games aren't going to come to it either.

This. And is probably why some people see the VC as no big deal. The Switch was never going to get Overwatch, Call of Duty, Battlefield, BF Star Wars, etc. Never. And anyone expecting it to was wrong.

These games were never going to come, so this changes nothing.

quote:

There isn't much left. Sure, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are great series that I want to play, but I'm not down for the buy in for just that.

For you. And that's perfectly fine, see #1 in my post - Some people will put up with it and some people won't. See any product ever made. Having awesome VC was never going to bring Overwatch, therefore, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. And if you relied on having every big AAA third party multiplayer game on the Switch, you had a massive misconception from the start. This was never happening and VC wasn't going to change it.

quote:

Especially if they keep making their eccentric head scratching decisions on design and functionality.

Right, Because some people just want Nintendo to make "Generic Home Game Console #3," and not try anything new, different or unique. WHich is why we constantly get posts/threads about Nintendo's decisions. Some people are ok with Nintendo being weird because of what they produce. And some people aren't. Some people want Nintendo to be Nintendo, and some people want Nintendo to be "Generic Console Maker #3."

I know the response though, "But VC is so simple and expected," and I would agree that's why this decision is just plain dumb. I don't think anyone can really disagree with that, however, what if it is a power issue, which you already referenced. What if the Switch literally can't handle a VC running in the background?

You might say, "They should just make a normal home console then, and nix the portable idea. Normal console, normal controller, normal VC capability."

I would probably say "Eh, VC, something I use sparingly, or a home/portable hybrid with nintendo games? I'll take the hybrid." Mario Kart on the go > Easy Voice Chat. And yes, there may be a choice.

That's really all this is, different strokes. Now, maybe it has nothing to do with power and this is typical Nintendo arrogance of thinking it knows better, which sometimes works out well, see the Wii, and sometimes doesn't, see this decision. And then you just go back to the question of whether or not you put up with it.

quote:

The big problem

But I think the real problem is that those either hyper-critical or unhappy haven't answered the simple question: "What do you do? What's the answer?"

Is it not to buy Nintendo products, not to buy Splatoon? Is it to provide feedback in hopes they change? Is it to just deal with it? Something else?

The Nintendo Switch Online App For Voice Chat Is A Disaster, But I Don't Really Care

I think this is going to be the typical "meh" response you get from people playing the Switch honestly... but it has been universally scorned, so hopefully THIS ONE TIME Nintendo listens

And I'm not sure those that are buying the Switch as a primary console are going to be as concerned about the lack of native voice chat, because if they spent too much time thinking about such things they'd likely already have a different console.

Bingo.

And it sucks, because VC has it's place, but again, there really isn't anything anyone can do.

One of the main reasons I quit LoL. It became unbearable to log in and hear that crap, when I just wanted to have fun while competing in a video game. I've never played a game where public/random chat doesn't just tick me off.

But it does have a place for more organized sessions, but that doesn't make it 100% necessary. It should be an option at the very least. After my Team Fortress 2 and Enemy Territory days, I've spent more time in random teams than I have in organized teams, and that probably affects my experience.

The GameCube is my favorite console design.

I also remember during Christmas selling maybe 2 of my most expensive Ichiro Suzuki RCs on eBay just to purchase the GameCube to play Luigi's Mansion.
