The most likely reason would be they know it sucks. I hope it's awesome.
They didn't send out review copies for Doom either. I'm not expecting a mind blowing experience, but I do want to feel immersed in a 1960s-1970s open world New Orleans with a solid main storyline to get engrossed in.

This, the gameplay videos I've seen are pretty bad. I think the only reason there's any kind of buzz on here is because it's set in New Orleans.

it looks like they've nailed NOLA
I'm overly picky as my I worked as an urban designer in New Orleans for a while, but it looks like an okay representation to me. Not great, or at least not from what I've seen. There are a lot of things missing or added that take away from what makes New Orleans New Orleans when you look at the physical feel of the city. Setbacks are too far, street widths are too wide, there's a lack of neutral grounds on major roadways, a lack canopy coverage, and an addition of topographic variation. Some of the videos I've watched come across more like Los Angeles than New Orleans. That's me being a picky a-hole. I understand why they did those things from a game design standpoint. I hope the game is good because I'm looking for something new to play.

Idk, I don't remember there being a buzz when Assassins creed liberation released and it is set in New Orleans.

Probably not a lot of buzz surrounding this game. I guess Mafia 2 sold well enough, but it's no GTA or even Sleeping Dogs.
The people who have played it seem to like it. I know I did. Absolutely nothing to do in the open world though.

If they nailed New Orleans I'm in. My apartment building existed back then, so it'll be interesting if I can see where I live in a video game.
Setting your expectations a bit high I would venture to say.

I don't know why so many people's first impulse is to play a game like this on PC that is so clearly designed for consoles.
I'm not defending the poor port so much as I am saying it's always a good idea to purchase a game for the lead platform if you can or at least wait and see what the port plays like.

Anyone have impressions on it?
Posted on 10/7/16 at 4:32 pm to sbr2
heard it's pretty repetitive :/

Aren't all open world games?
Posted on 10/7/16 at 4:44 pm to Mr Gardoki
yes, but they said this one is particularly repetitive. same exact structure of meeting an accomplice, doing the same sidem issions for all of them, then doing a big main mission for them.
said the open world is just empty and lifeless

So it's basically Assassins Creed 1?
Empty world doesn't mean much to me. Mafia 2 had zero content outside of the main missions so I kind of expect that. I am disappointed about the repetitive mission structure though. Guess I will see for myself in about an hour

Did one of your like-minded friends review the game for you? Or a non-hipster gamer?
