Reason I didn't post in this thread with the Fannies. Zelda looks like it will be an awesome title. That is a given. The only issue I hold with it is the washed out look. The stuff gives me a headache just from the trailers. They are doing that because of low res textures, nearly absent texture filtering which leaves the image a blurry mess with colors blending into each other. It is almost like they set the shtt that way because the lack of AA and the low resolution docked being around 900p.

The only thing that saves it is the art style, it looks outdated otherwise.

Are you trying to insinuate that FFXV is bad?

Yes, for a FF.

What if Nintendo went strictly portable (not hybrid) and also was 3rd party for Sony and Microsoft? Would that even work?

Nintendo is going to diversify out of their own environments, but they're going the mobile route. While they're testing out what works, they'll grow in their iOS/Android presence.

I don't see them wanting to make big budget games for MS/Sony when they can spend the money on their handheld and phone games.

If they made Zelda for the PS4 and XBone damn near everyone that owns those would buy it.

Preordered the console and Breath of the Wild. Pretty excited about it.

Anybody have an idea about where Breath of the Wild takes place in the timeline? I've read some stuff that suggests it follows Twilight Princess and some that suggests it follows Wind Waker.

Most likely comes before or after Twilight Princess. I don't think anyone has come up with this particular theory of mine, but I bet it happens a whole different way.

In the end of OoT, that bastard Zelda sends Link back to his childhood supposedly. What if that never happened? What if Link never went to his original timeline and stayed with Zelda at the temple of time? I think that could be possible.

All the reviews for the hands on this weekend were positive. They should of delayed Zelda and switch. Launched it v with Mario Cart and Arms.

I think it's in the Downfall timeline between Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past.

OOT was more or less Ganon's origin story so it couldn't be pre-OOT.

Post-Wind Waker Hyrule is flooded and the Master Sword is lodged in Ganondorf's skull so that doesn't work.

Pre-Twilight Princess doesn't seem likely as we already know what happened with Ganondorf in TP's backstory and it doesn't match with what we've seen of BOTW so far.

Post-TP seems unlikely because the Temple of Time is completely overrun in TP while it is mostly intact in BOTW.

Which leaves pre-WW and some point in the Downfall timeline as the possibilities. Several details of BOTW we've seen so far match up pretty closely to the Imprisoning War (which is between OOT and LTTP) described in LTTP and Hyrule Historia.

Nintendo is marketing this thing all wrong. Imagine if they came out and said they were consolidating their handheld and home console into one ecosystem. A 3DS successor that you can plug and play on your TV at any time is a pretty nice proposition, especially when it includes the bigger budget home console titles like mainline Zelda and Mario titles.

Instead, it's basically viewed as an underpowered home console/gaming tablet that you can take with you on the go.

Is it bad marketing or what the system actually is though?

I see a lot of assuming going on that this will get 3DS games but no facts.

Same thing they did with the DS and that paid off well.

However, that was a different time. People are inundated with gadgets and tech. I do think this is an issue and could be a problem down the line.

Heck, I want Smash Bros. simply because I want to get rid of my Wii U. There's no other reason than I'd not like to grow my gadget collection. Nintendo would probably disagree with me.

That is what it should be. Battery life on the Switch is comparable to the 3DS. Once the switch is released, there is literally no reason to continue focusing on the 3DS when you have new, more powerful hardware that does literally the exact same thing.

Comparable is a very loose term when used this way.

3DS is 3 to 5 hours. Switch is 2 to 6.

The new 3DS (ie, the revision) gives 3.5-7, but that 3.5 is when you use the 3D mode. If you keep 3D off, it's more like 5-7.

Still, if the appeal of the Switch is the portability, what is the point of the 3DS?
