No but it is recommended. Probably the best part of the game is building on character relationships for 3 entire games.

The first ME has one of the best stories in all of video games. It's more of an RPG than the other two. The second one is more shooter oriented and has a weaker story but stronger character stories. In other words this series is more fully experienced across all three games.

got my arse rocked on the Palaven moon (turian homeworld) on Hardcore, versus that last pack.. 2 Brutes + marauders. Yes i saw and used that Mini nuke thing, but i blew my wad too soon.
after that, went back to the Citadel, spent some credicks on some gear (cerberus armor) and assault rifle upgrades, then went to the Turian homeworld and did mad work to retrieve the objective. Atlas was kind of a bitch but he got dealt with
Spent most of my time last night running around doing social shite though and finding stores. Sucker for side missions
was quite surprised at EDI
still lovin the game.

Just beat the ME2 last night and when I get home from work today ME3 will be sitting at my front door. Can't wait.

Finally encountered a banshee.
Fighting two at once was more than I could bear. Hopefully I'll never encounter them again, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking.
Tried to do a biotic charge on one. Huge mistake.

Banshees in MP are insane. We were doing a mission on the Cerberus base and basically ended up making laps around the level killing off everything but the Banshee because she was killing us with impunity. She did the insta-kill on our Krogan soldier, and that was when I decided to run away.

Just finished. I don't know what to think. There will almost certainly be another game. I think I will go hibernate for a few days.

Banshees with a couple brutes is kicking my arse. I still haven't received any better weapons. I'm thinking about switching to a character with some biotics. I just can't keep up without any weapon improvements.
BTW, who decided to lie to the Krogan?

I see myself playing through this at least 2 more times...just finished playthrough #1. Some tough decisions to make at the end.

The endings are ridiculously disappointing. Having read the scripts, they sound worse without context but this is stupefying.
And yes there will be another ME game, seeing as to how this one sold 3.5 million copies in a few days. The way they ended this.....it would have to be a prequel.

I've read this was the last in this story arc. Not sure how many of those they have.

This is the end of the Shepard story arc. We will no longer see ME games with Shepard as the protagonist. Does anyone really think that EA lets a hugely popular IP just lay by the wayside?

Finishing play though 2 now, the slow moving shepard sucks.
Did the 1st with and import from me2 the 2nd without, but i still cant get some alliances to work.
